Our research is engaged, at the frontier of practice and has a positive impact on the world around us. ** Background – City St George’s has recently made significant investment in an Employability Development Plan (EDP) which will see employability embedded across the curriculum. Professional Level Experience is one element of this and Micro-Placements play a key part in achieving this goal. The work relating to Professional Level Experience will have a high profile within the institution. ** Responsibilities – Coordinate the Micro-Placements from end to end. The goal is to enrich the learning environment and prepare students for the world of work through career-exploration with the Senior Employer Engagement Adviser, as well as support and help improve the employability and graduate outcomes of City students from all backgrounds. Clearly and accurately promote the Micro-Placements programme (and other professional programmes) to ensure required number of sign ups and quality applications. Work closely with the communication teams to ensure a streamlined, multi-channel and effective strategy. Assist with all the administration of the MPP, from managing the recruitment processes, to booking rooms, catering and IT equipment and coordinating events (in person or virtually). Dealing with all student queries in a timely and professional manner, escalating to the Employer Engagement Team Leader (Student Operations) where necessary. Interpret customer requirements and produce solutions and provide advice. Organising and facilitating the MPP workshops, contributing input where necessary. Collaborate with academics, Professional Programmes team and wider members of Student & Academic Services to ensure the smooth coordination of the programmes. Mark student applications and interviews against set criteria- working to tight deadlines. Provide detailed feedback to students at each step of the recruitment process. Diagnose and solve technical issues with the platforms we use to support students e.g. Moodle, Qualtrics, CareersHub, Adobe Sign. Training will be provided. Interview students with colleagues and providing constructive feedback to those selected / not selected for the programmes / schemes (where necessary) Complete in work support visits (virtual and in person as appropriate). Collect and analyse student and employer feedback and come up with recommendations to make professional programmes more appealing to students and improve the student experience and their graduate outcomes. Develop and update the MPP Student Code of Conduct and FAQs and ensure website content and student-facing materials are kept up to date. Produce a range of student-facing documents to support students through the process. Monitor student progress and contact them to signpost them to relevant support to ensure they are set up for success on the Programme, flagging any welfare concerns promptly to the Senior Professional Programmes Adviser and the student’s personal tutor. Coordinate tailored events and interactions with employers and alumni related to these activities. Contribute to Social Media activity, including regular posts on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter post and during Placement. Use our online platforms and tools such as, but not limited to, Squiz, CareersHub and Qualtrics to produce project forms for MPP students. Contribute towards the delivery and development of the Careers Service by ensuring smooth and effective operation of the centre, by supporting the activities for which it is responsible in line with the University’s 2026 strategic plan and Employability Development Plan. ** Person Specification – Good knowledge of the graduate labour market HE advisory/ Graduate recruitment experience (desirable) Experience Related work experience in the higher education sector, commercial, recruitment or marketing field. Experience of forward planning in an environment consisting of multiple priorities. Familiarity with issues related to careers provision in the Higher Education context holistic view of the educational experience, together with an appreciation of all issues from pre-entry to exit. Ability to build confidence and provide constructive criticism, Planning and organising. Able to work autonomously, exercise initiative, plan well in advance; highly developed project management skills. Systematic approach to work, with an ability to plan and manage a range of responsibilities, assigning appropriate priorities and completing tasks to a high standard of accuracy, often within strict and multiple deadlines. Investigation, analysis and research. Ability to locate, utilise and manage information quickly and effectively. Ability to maintain accurate records of work and produce quantitative and qualitative summaries for reports. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow multiple processes driven approaches. Collaborative ethos and teamwork Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and establish effective relationships with a wide variety of professional and administrative groups, becoming involved in other areas of the Careers Service as necessary. Information Technology. Quick and accurate use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel (or similar spreadsheet package) and databases Information Technology. Ability to use the web and to contribute to the development of the web as a communication and learning tool e.g. Moodle VLE and social media. Proactive, problem solving and decision making. Using initiative and a creative approach to problem solving; exercising judgement to take appropriate decisions. Self-starter with a strong sense personal motivation. Autonomy to make decisions regarding own work, providing these decisions are in line with the Employer Engagement and Careers Service strategic and operating plan. Creativity and embracing change, Flexibility and the ability to react to change in the context of a demanding work schedule. Seeking out new ideas and opportunities to achieve Careers and Employability’s vision.
