We are looking for an Interface Developer Intern to join our remote team and help build the frontend tools our clients rely on. Our client is a major British financial institution, and we are currently working on a series of internal dashboards that help their operations staff manage complex data sets. As an intern, you will be right in the middle of this, helping us turn raw data into interfaces that people can actually use to do their jobs. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys the practical side of coding and wants to see how software helps large organizations run their daily operations.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use. We do not spend our time on flashy consumer apps or marketing sites that try to go viral. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.
We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything, the code, the documentation, and even walkthrough videos, when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends.
The Role
In this role, your daily work will focus on building and refining the visual parts of the tools we create. You will be taking existing data structures and creating clean, functional interfaces for them. This is a fully remote position where you will participate in our weekly demos and learn how a professional software project moves from a requirement to a shipped product. You will be working directly on the project for our client in the British financial sector, ensuring their staff can navigate complex information without friction.
Day-to-day tasks will include:
- Building out new pages and components for internal admin dashboards.
- Fixing bugs and styling issues in existing user interfaces.
- Ensuring that forms and data entry points handle user input correctly.
- Collaborating with our senior developers to translate functional requirements into code.
- Cleaning up frontend code to make it more readable and easier to maintain.
- Testing interfaces across different browsers to ensure consistent behavior.
- Helping to document how the interfaces work so our clients can use them effectively.
What You Bring
We do not expect you to be an expert, but we do need you to be organized and eager to learn how professional software is built. You should have a solid grasp of HTML and CSS, and a basic understanding of how to build things with JavaScript. We value clarity over cleverness, so writing readable code is more important to us than writing something complex. Since we are a remote company, being able to communicate clearly in writing is essential. You should be someone who enjoys the process of fixing a bug or making a page load just a little bit smoother.
Helpful Background
While these are not strict requirements, it is helpful if you have some familiarity with the following areas:
- Basic experience with React or another modern JavaScript framework.
- Understanding of how to use Git and GitHub for version control.
- Familiarity with CSS frameworks or styling libraries.
- A basic understanding of how to fetch data from an API.
- Experience using terminal commands for basic development tasks.
- An interest in how data flows from a backend database to a frontend interface.
- Previous personal projects or coursework that involve building functional websites.
Working at Pixel Systems
Working at Pixel Systems means you get to see how software actually impacts a business. You will be working on projects that help people like warehouse managers or finance teams get their work done faster. We have a flat structure without layers of middle management, which means you will be working directly with experienced developers who care about the craft of coding. This is a paid internship, and we offer a competitive rate for the current market. Because we are fully remote, you have the flexibility to manage your own workspace while staying connected to the team through regular check-ins and documentation.
We pride ourselves on being a no-drama workplace. We focus on the work, we ship it, and we make sure it works for the long haul. As an intern here, you will be a full member of the team, contributing to real projects that our clients depend on. We believe in providing a supportive environment where you can build your skills by solving real-world operational problems.
