If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you. We are growing and seeking an ambitious Intermediate Consultant ( Water Resources Engineer ) to join our dynamic team. This role is open to our Calgary or Saskatoon office , with a possib i l ity for a hybrid opportunit y in Vancouver. From early-stage planning through to relinquishment, we’re helping reshape the future of mining — and we’re looking for people who want to be part of that transformation. Responsibilities: In this role, you will work closely with our mining clients and technical teams on projects that span diverse sites with unique challenges to develop practical solutions for mine water management . Y ou r work will include: Perform ing climate, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support peak flow, flood control and erosion mitigation studies. Complet ing hydrologic and engineering designs for mining clients, incorporating climate change assessments to support planning and design of water infrastructure. Develop ing and manag ing mine water balance models to support site-wide water balance assessments and water management planning. Design ing and assess ing mine water management infrastructure, focus on surface water infrastructure such as channels, ponds and sizing pumping systems. Contribut ing to the development of water quality models. Collaborat ing with Okane’s multidisciplinary teams to support the development and implementation of closure visioning, planning and execution. Provid ing guidance for the planning and execution of water monitoring programs . Complet ing technically proficient reports that meet project requirements. Provid ing support for proposals of varying complexity in technical expertise . Interact ing competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise . Expectations for this Role: Understanding of mining process, lifecycle and mine closure concepts. B uild and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and actively engage in business development initiatives, exploring innovative opportunities beyond your project scope. Possess leadership skills including communication, accountability, honesty, empathy, creativity, responsibility, and flexibility. Embody Okane’s Core Vision (Help Create a Better Tomorrow) . This may look like completing hazard assessments and other HSE project requirements, following internal procedures and policies, participating in safety training, and promoting a safety culture. You are comfortable working flexibly across time zones and travelling from time to time. Qualifications: Bachelor or graduate degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering. Holds a Professional Engineer (P.Eng . ) designation or is eligible to obtain it. 5 to 8 years of experience in water management within the mining industry. Experience and aptitude for multidisciplinary work and dynamic team environments. Demonstrated e xperience in hydrology, hydraulics, water infrastructure design, and water balance modelling. Proficiency using water modelling software such as GoldSim , HEC-HMS, and other relevant numerical modelling programs. Experience with overseeing and supervising the construction of water management infrastructure is an asset. Experience in integrating source terms to water balance models and developing water quality models is an asset. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for both business and technical writing and clear and effective collaboration within project teams . Knowledge of Canadian water regulations, codes and environmental standards including relevant professional procedures and practices is an asset. Why Join Okane?
