Intermediate Software Developer in Test (SDET)

R iva is looking for an Intermediate Software Developer in Test (SDET) who is passionate about building reliable, scalable automated testing solutions for modern cloud applications. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING In this role, you’ll help improve product quality and deployment confidence by designing and maintaining automated test suites for our AWS-based SaaS platform and Outlook add-in integrations. You’ll work closely with developers, product owners, and platform teams to ensure new features are thoroughly tested and continuously validated through CI/CD pipeline automation. We are especially interested in candidates with strong experience in Playwright test automation. While this role is primarily focused on automation engineering, you should also be comfortable performing exploratory, regression, and targeted manual testing when automation is not the most effective approach. As a Software Developer in Test, your responsibilities will be centered around delivering the following outcomes: Reliable automated test coverage for critical workflows. Faster and safer deployments through CI/CD integrated testing. Improved deployment confidence and lower regression test failure rates. Clear, actionable defect reporting and strong engineering collaboration. Stable, maintainable, and scalable automated test systems. Build and scale automated testing. Design, develop, and maintain reliable and scalable automated test suites using Playwright and AccelQ (training is provided). Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines. Integrate automated tests into deployment and release workflows. Investigate failures and improve quality . Monitor test execution results and improve pipeline quality signals. Troubleshoot failing tests, identify root causes, and analyze logs. Work closely with developers to resolve defects and improve system reliability. Surface quality risks early and help prevent regressions before release. Collaborate as part of an engineering team. Work within Agile/Scrum teams using Jira and Confluence. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Communicate fluently in written and spoken English. Adaptable to new environments and changes in requirements and scope. Demonstrate openness to feedback, respect team roles and technical ownership, and align with agreed-upon standards and decisions. Participate in code reviews and testing reviews. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE Experience: 3+ years of professional experience as a software tester 2+ years of experience writing automated tests. Education: Some post-secondary education in computer science, software engineering, quality assurance, or software testing. Automation & Quality Engineering Skills: Strong hands-on experience building automated test suites. Experience integrating automated tests in CI/CD pipelines and release workflows. Experience investigating test failures, analyzing logs, troubleshooting flaky tests, and collaborating with developers to resolve defects quickly. Experience in investigating and implementing new test automation tools to expand existing coverage where needed. Understanding of modern testing practices, including atomic tests, reusable test components, test reliability, and shift-left quality practices. Proficient with testing on Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android. Demonstrate a keen desire to continually learn new test automation technologies and improve their programming skills to gain the expertise needed to build performant and efficient automated tests. A working understanding of web service technologies (REST, SOAP, Web Sockets, OData) and experience in testing them effectively. A working understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, and Microsoft Graph). Experience developing tests to validate various data transformations (XML, XSLT, JSON). Experience with Git and GitHub. Proficient with programming tools like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Sonar Lint, ES Lint, SonarQube, and AI code generation tools.
