Discovery’s Technology & Operations organization builds the machine learning and optimization models that power WBD’s advertising ecosystem across linear and digital platforms. Our data science teams turn large-scale advertising data into predictive insights that drive revenue and smarter decision-making, working across forecasting, yield optimization, personalization, and audience intelligence. Your New Role Join Warner Bros. Discovery as a Technology & Operations Data Science Intern, where you will help build the machine learning and optimization models that power WBD’s advertising ecosystem. Working alongside experienced data scientists, you will design, test, and support models for forecasting, yield optimization, personalization, and audience intelligence, and gain hands-on exposure to how AI/ML turns large-scale advertising data into predictive insights. This is a strong foundation role for a student or 2027 graduate who enjoys problem-solving, logical thinking, and working with data at scale, is curious about how AI powers advertising and business decisions, and is motivated to learn modern ML, cloud, and experimentation techniques in a collaborative, fast paced engineering environment. Structured training, on-the-job support, and mentorship from experienced data scientists and technical leaders run through the six months. In this role, you will: • Support the development, testing, and tuning of machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models for forecasting, optimization, and personalization using Python and relevant open-source or cloud-based frameworks. • Work with an assigned mentor to translate a defined business need into an analytical or AI problem statement, success measures, and an achievable project plan. • Design and run A/B tests and evaluations covering model quality, factuality, relevance, robustness, latency, and cost, and analyze the impact of models on business outcomes. • Work with large, structured and semi-structured advertising datasets across cloud-based platforms, and assist with automation, monitoring, and data-quality checks that keep models running reliably. • Apply sound engineering practices — version control, reproducible experiments, code review, and testing — and document models, data flows, and best practices for team use. Key Domain • Machine Learning and AI: regression, classification, and clustering, deep learning, large language models, embeddings, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic AI workflows. • Programming and Data: Python, SQL, Git, APIs, and ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Spark ML. • Cloud and Experimentation: AWS, Databricks, Azure, or GCP platforms, alongside statistics and A/B testing fundamentals.
