Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Compliance Specialist 3 position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Personal Tax and Compliance Division. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely. This position requires working on-site during the initial training period, which is expected to last approximately one month. After training is complete, the role will transition to our standard hybrid work schedule. In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered. Wha t You Will Be Doing Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties. • Conduct risk‑based evaluations ensuring adherence to federal, state, and internal requirements. • Develop and maintain compliance tools, processes, communications, and tracking systems to support consistent, agency‑wide compliance. • Coordinate required compliance training, serve as a resource to employees, and advise on necessary policy or process improvements. • Manage disclosure compliance operations, including information‑request coordination, incident investigations, and administration of exchange agreements with other agencies and states. • Serve as the IRS Liaison, supporting safeguard reviews, preparing required reports, and ensuring compliance with IRS Publication 1075 security and disclosure standards. • Design and deliver targeted compliance training programs to strengthen understanding of regulatory requirements across the agency. • Provide expert guidance to staff and leadership on compliance risks, policy updates, and best practices to support informed decision‑making. Three of the five years must be above the technical support level. College-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years. The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse groups and backgrounds, including team members, cross-jurisdictional leadership, stakeholders, and community partners. Experience performing direct reviews of providers/programs to assess performance by reviewing records to verify accuracy of reported data and appropriateness of services, and for compliance of rules, policies, procedures, and statutes. Experience with learning, performing, investigating, and enforcing statutes, laws, rules, regulatory standards, and policies. Possess strong critical thinking, problem-solving, research, and general analytical skills. Ability to coach, teach and share statutes, laws, rules, regulatory standards, and policies to stakeholders with varying levels of understanding and diverse audiences. The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
