ABOUT US: With a mission to enrich the cultural life of our region, Birmingham Hippodrome is one of the most popular theatre complexes in the UK. Varied productions in our 1,850-seat auditorium (dating from 1899), and in our 200-seat Patrick Studio ensure we play a key role in the region’s world-class cultural scene. With c.400 live performances annually in our main house, we present nothing but the best in touring musical theatre, ballet, dance, opera, pantomime, drama, and comedy. Our Patrick Studio welcomes a range of smaller-scale productions and is an important base for dance and for the development of new artistic work. 🍦Fun fact: Hamilton was one of our largest ever onsale days, with an online queue peaking at 5,500 people, allowing 75 people into the website every minute. ABOUT THE ROLE: 🖥️ This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week 🖥️ Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required during key projects 🖥️ Patching happens every 2nd Sunday, and these shifts are shared among the team on a rota basis 🖥️ You must be willing to undergo a Basic DBS check As IT Manager, you will play a leading role in shaping and supporting Birmingham Hippodrome’s technology environment during a period of significant change and modernisation. Working within the Systems & Technology team, you will be responsible for maintaining secure, reliable and high-performing infrastructure and end-user services, while helping to drive improvements across identity and device management, networking, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, operational support, and service delivery. Reporting to the Head of Systems & Technology, you will lead day-to-day technical operations and line manage our two IT Engineers. You will work closely with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver resilient, well-governed and user-focused technology services. The role offers the chance to contribute to digital transformation, strengthen security and compliance, introduce modern tools and ways of working, and ensure technology continues to enable collaboration, innovation and excellent service across the organisation. No two days at Birmingham Hippodrome are the same! You’ll be at the heart of a busy, creative venue, solving problems and improving systems. From day-to-day troubleshooting to rolling out new tools and tech, this is a role with variety, pace, and opportunities to grow. For full details of the job description, the department, and the person we're looking for, please see the candidate pack . If you require an accessible/plain text version of the candidate pack, please email talent@birminghamhippodrome.com ABOUT THE TEAM: Here's a few of our recent achievements: We've transformed our contact centre with a new telephony solution, introducing webchat for the first time, enhanced reporting, and practical use of AI. We've rolled out Microsoft Teams-certified telephony to key business users. We've delivered the largest ticketing system upgrade in the organisation’s history, with minimal impact on customers. We also refreshed the laptop estate, reducing the average age of equipment and starting to standardise device models across the organisation. Looking forward, big things are happening in Systems & Technology. We’re delivering a major infrastructure refresh, including new fibre connectivity, upgraded network switching and a complete core infrastructure rollout. For us, this is more than an upgrade; we're building the digital foundation of Birmingham Hippodrome, enabling new services, improving resilience and creating a platform for innovation for years to come. ABOUT YOU: You'll need substantial experience in IT infrastructure, administering identity and endpoint management, managing Microsoft 365 services, and taking responsibility for maintaining secure production environments. You'll have strong experience of working with IT service desks including ticket triage, user support and continuous service improvement. Previous line management experience would be desirable - and a collaborative, supportive, people-focussed, and positive approach is a must-have. Recognising under-representation in our workforce of the global majority, and people with disabilities, we particularly welcome applicants from those backgrounds.
