Position Summary
The IT Solution Architect designs and improves PLM (Product Life Cycle) and related engineering application solutions for product data and project lifecycle processes. The role supports Arena PLM and enables secure, reliable, and efficient collaboration across engineering, product, quality, operations, and project teams within approved business and technology strategies.
As a senior technical and functional contributor, the role provides input to the PLM and engineering applications roadmap, applies established architectural standards, and translates business needs into practical solutions with strong data quality, traceability, and user adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Application & PLM Solution Design
- Design end-to-end architectures for PLM, product data management, project lifecycle, and engineering collaboration workflows.
- Configure, enhance, and maintain Arena PLM and related engineering applications in line with established standards.
- Apply established architectural standards and recommend PLM-specific patterns, roles, permissions, workflows, and practices.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues to align architecture with business, technical, quality, and operational needs.
- Product / Project Lifecycle & Data Governance
- Support item, BOM, document control, change management, approval, release, and project lifecycle processes.
- Ensure consistent, traceable, and reliable product and engineering data across systems.
- Analyze and document PLM data flows and integration requirements across ERP, CAD/EDA, manufacturing/fab exchange, quality, document management, and reporting platforms.
- Document and recommend source-of-truth, data-ownership, lifecycle-status, business-rule, and handover approaches, coordinating implementation with technical teams.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as a bridge between IT, engineering, product, quality, operations, project teams, and external vendors.
- Document architecture, run design reviews, facilitate workshops, and communicate complex concepts clearly.
Accountability
The IT Solution Architect is accountable for the technical quality and production readiness of assigned PLM and related engineering application solutions, within agreed scope, standards, and approved business and technology direction.
The role provides technical input and recommendations that support:
- Secure and compliant platforms aligned with applicable corporate and regulatory standards
- Reliable PLM workflows for product data, engineering changes, approvals, releases, and project execution within assigned solutions
- High-quality, traceable, and appropriately governed engineering and product data
- Maintainable and appropriately integrated PLM and related engineering application solutions
- Clear communication and adoption among relevant engineering and stakeholder groups
The IT Solution Architect coordinates the development and implementation of PLM solutions, provides technical recommendations, and aligns work with established architecture principles, business needs, Engineering Applications leadership, and other solution architects.
