About the Company
A global digital asset exchange is expanding its Japan-related hiring and local HR capability. Operating as a remote-first, globally distributed organization, the company is looking for someone who understands Japan’s talent market and can bring practical local insight to its hiring and employment decisions.
The Role
You will drive recruitment for Japan-related hiring priorities, combining hands-on candidate engagement with talent mapping and market research.
Recruitment delivery is the primary focus. Alongside this, you will provide headquarters with practical guidance on Japanese employment practices, helping the team make informed decisions on local hiring and people matters.
This opportunity is open to full-time or short-term contract arrangements. Candidates based in Japan are preferred, although candidates elsewhere with strong Japanese market knowledge and local networks will also be considered.
What You’ll Do
• Manage end-to-end recruitment for Japan-related roles, from clarifying hiring needs and sourcing candidates through interviews, offers, and pre-boarding coordination.
• Build talent maps across crypto, fintech, technology, and regulated financial services, covering priority companies, functions, candidate backgrounds, and market movements.
• Activate local recruitment channels, professional networks, and referrals to engage relevant talent and develop candidate pipelines.
• Turn research and candidate conversations into clear market reports, highlighting talent availability, candidate expectations, and barriers to hiring.
• Provide practical input on Japanese employment practices, including employment terms, onboarding, social insurance, and employee relations or exit risks. Coordinate with local specialists where needed.
• Work closely with headquarters to prioritize hiring needs, communicate progress and obstacles, and follow through on agreed recruitment and local HR actions.
What We’re Looking For
Must-haves
• 3–5+ years of hands-on recruitment or talent acquisition experience in Japan, with demonstrated hiring delivery and established knowledge of local sourcing channels.
• Fluent Japanese, plus English or Chinese at a level that enables effective day-to-day collaboration with headquarters.
• Practical understanding of Japanese labor laws and employment practices, including the Labor Standards Act, social insurance, and employee relations risk prevention.
• Ability to independently manage recruitment priorities, organize market information, and communicate progress clearly in a remote working environment.
Preferred
• Experience in Web3 or crypto, particularly with a digital asset exchange; fintech or technology recruitment experience is also valued.
• Direct experience handling local onboarding, employment contract preparation, social insurance procedures, or employee relations matters.
• Experience working with international or distributed teams, with availability to start promptly.
