As this role primarily supports the Japanese market, priority will be given to candidates residing in Japan.

Role Description

MIT Center is hiring Japanese-English Medical Interpreters to provide real-time consecutive interpretation between Japanese-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals.

This is a 100% remote opportunity with Full-Time and Part-Time schedules available.

Responsibilities

• Interpret accurately between Japanese and English during healthcare interactions.
• Facilitate clear communication between patients and healthcare providers.
• Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professional standards.
• Follow interpreting protocols and organizational guidelines.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native Japanese fluency.
• C1+ English proficiency.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
• Previous interpreting experience is preferred but not required.
• Training will be provided for selected candidates.

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

• Customer service or call center experience.
• Previous interpreting or translation experience.
• Familiarity with remote communication tools.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
