Java Developer (Fitness Industry)

Project Description The Backend Developer will extend an existing platform ecosystem by building and integrating backend services for the client’s equipment replacement and rotation, reporting, AI integration, and operational workflows. The role requires reusing current APIs, services, and data-access patterns rather than duplicating existing platform capabilities. Technologies Google Agent Development Kit (ADK) Java, Spring Boot GraphQL, REST APIs PostgreSQL, Firebase Firestore GCP, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub Jenkins, IaC Angular OAuth, RBAC What You'll Do Design and implement Java/Spring Boot backend services supporting equipment replacement and rotation capabilities; Develop and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs used by Facility Connect applications; Integrate backend services with existing Stats API and related platform services; Implement end-to-end replacement and rotation workflows, including recommendation, accept, dismiss, snooze, execution, and completion scenarios; Build auditable workflows connecting equipment statistics and signals with recommendations, operator decisions, and resulting actions; Develop backend integrations with PostgreSQL, Firestore, and GCP services; Implement event-driven workflows using Pub/Sub, including event consumption; Support facility-scoped authorization, OAuth-based authentication, and appropriate data-access controls; Develop backend capabilities supporting reports and data exports; Integrate backend services with the AI/ML solution and related data services; Maintain and enhance Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code configurations in collaboration with DevOps team; Support performance, reliability, security, and production-readiness requirements; Collaborate with the Frontend Engineer on Angular/GraphQL integration; Work closely with the Technical Lead, Product, QA, and DevOps teams throughout implementation; Job Requirements 6+ years of backend-focused professional software engineering experience; Advanced hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot; Experience designing and implementing GraphQL and REST APIs; Strong experience with PostgreSQL, relational data modeling, and query optimization; Experience with GCP and cloud-native application development; Hands-on experience with Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK); Experience with Firestore or comparable NoSQL/document databases; Experience with Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automated cloud deployments; Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging, preferably Google Cloud Pub/Sub; Understanding of OAuth, RBAC, least-privilege access, and enterprise application security; Experience developing reliable distributed workflows, including transactional and compensating patterns; Ability to troubleshoot performance, scalability, reliability, and production issues in distributed applications; Experience integrating backend services into established enterprise architectures and existing platforms; Working knowledge of Angular sufficient to collaborate effectively with frontend engineers; Excellent English communication skills from b2 level or higher; Experience with fitness equipment platforms or operator-facing applications is a plus; What Do We Offer The global benefits package includes: Technical and non-technical training for professional and personal growth; Internal conferences and meetups to learn from industry experts; Support and mentorship from an experienced employee to help you professional grow and development; Health insurance; Sports activities to promote a healthy lifestyle; Flexible work options, including remote and hybrid opportunities; Referral program for bringing in new talent; Work anniversary program and additional vacation days.
