Shape the future of core banking – the infrastructure society relies on. We are now looking for a senior Java developer with Tech Lead experience to join the SEB initiative to modernize core banking. About the job: The New Cash Ledger (NCL) project is a top priority initiative to secure the future of core banking services. Within the project, this team is responsible for building a new platform for handling liquidity products by replacing, modernizing and enhancing critical parts of existing global products. In addition to the liquidity products, the team is also responsible for developing additional necessary common functions for NCL suited for the same tech stack. You will join a cross-functional product team with end-to-end responsibility for design, development, and delivery, which means that product, customer interface, front- and back technologies work close together to secure the right solution and an efficient development process. The team works in an agile, iterative manner with continuous demos and delivery, fast feedback loops and a strong focus on producing working solutions. As a Senior Java Developer / Tech Lead in NCL, you will design and implement backend services while guiding the technical direction of the solution in close collaboration with the business. You will contribute to architectural decisions, drive engineering best practices, support other developers through mentoring and code reviews, and take shared responsibility for running the system we build in production. We value a strong collaborative mindset, pragmatic solutions, fast feedback, and high-code quality, supported by modern CI/CD practices and a strong testing culture. It is a strong plus if you have a background or an interest in collaborating with stakeholders across domains to shape end-to-end solutions, clarify non-functional requirements, and balance long-term architecture with incremental delivery of working solutions. What you will work with: Architecture & Runtime Java 25, Quarkus Ports and Adapters (Hexagonal Architecture) Direct SQL against PostgreSQL Testing & Observability JUnit OpenTelemetry, Splunk Observability Build & Deployment Maven Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker, OpenShift GitHub, GitHub Actions, SonarQube Frontend Experience with frontend development is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions, including trade-offs across performance, security, resilience, and time-to-market in collaboration with your team and stakeholders. Clear communication skills, mentorship mindset, and a sense of shared proudness and ownership for the products and services that you create. Tech Lead experience or a strong interest in leading technical discussions, align the team on approach, and help turn requirements into good solutions.
