Java Specialis

Role Description This part-time remote Java Specialist role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications and services. Daily responsibilities include writing clean, efficient, and testable code, troubleshooting and debugging existing systems, and implementing improvements to performance, security, and scalability. The Java Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and standards. The role also involves creating and updating technical documentation, supporting deployments, and providing guidance on Java frameworks, tools, and integration patterns as needed.
Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in core Java and object-oriented programming concepts, with experience building and maintaining production-grade applications.
• Hands-on experience with common Java frameworks and libraries (such as Spring or similar), including dependency injection, RESTful services, and data access layers.
• Understanding of software engineering principles, including version control (e.g., Git), unit testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery practices.
• Ability to analyze requirements, design robust solutions, and debug complex issues in distributed or modular systems.
• Familiarity with relational databases, SQL, and basic data modeling; exposure to NoSQL or cloud-native services is a plus.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in a Java-focused role is strongly preferred.
• Commitment to writing secure, maintainable code and staying current with Java ecosystem updates and best practices.
