How will you impact? As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at Parser, you'll join our backend engineering team in London to combine strong hands-on technical capability with leadership and stakeholder-management skills. Operating within agile product squads, you'll shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and build scalable customer-facing platforms while solving complex business problems and driving delivery on mission-critical systems in the banking and payments domain. Your key responsibilities: Your responsibilities include, but not limited to: Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native backend systems using Java and Kotlin. Shape technical direction, engineering practices, and architectural decisions across tribes and squads for mission-critical banking, payments, or card issuing systems. Drive delivery of complex features in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments while balancing long-term architecture goals with short-term priorities. Coach and develop engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge-sharing. Manage stakeholders effectively across engineering and business functions, and report progress to senior leadership. Ensure system resilience, performance, production support excellence, and champion the responsible use of AI-assisted software development. What you'll bring to the role: Essential Requirements: Strong backend development experience using Java and/or Kotlin, deep expertise in the JVM ecosystem, open-source frameworks, REST APIs, event-driven messaging, and databases. Proven experience building cloud-native applications, microservices, distributed architectures, and customer-facing platforms using AWS and multi-cloud environments. Experience with mission-critical systems, ideally in banking, payments, or card issuing. Expertise in testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery automation. Exceptional problem-solving mindset, ownership mentality, and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop engineers, influence engineering direction beyond immediate team boundaries, and collaborate effectively across tribes and squads. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across business and engineering functions. Location: London.
