This position offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely, contribute to impactful projects, and potentially lead a team of junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have between 2 to 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of working on open-source projects or similar high-quality repositories. Proficiency in JavaScript is essential, along with strong familiarity with version control systems like Git. Experience with Docker and basic software pipeline setup is required to facilitate environment configuration and automation tasks. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and traverse complex codebases, run and modify projects locally, and evaluate code quality. Prior experience contributing to or assessing open-source projects is advantageous, as is familiarity with testing frameworks and automation tools. A proactive mindset and excellent problem-solving skills are essential to thrive in this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues reported in trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub, identifying critical bugs and improvement areas.
- Set up, configure, and maintain code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup to streamline development workflows.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and overall code quality, providing actionable insights for improvements.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of large language models (LLMs) in bug-fixing and code analysis scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to identify repositories and issues that pose challenges for LLMs, contributing to research and development efforts.
- Lead or mentor junior engineers, guiding best practices in code review, testing, and automation processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation pipelines, testing strategies, and project documentation.
