We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP developer to join our team and help us improve a legacy platform with API capabilities and enhanced error logging & monitoring, to support future integrations and phased platform modernisation for one of our clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high quality, PHP based applications with API integrations for enterprise-level organizations. Responsibilities Design & implement feature and resource oriented REST endpoints compatible with the existing legacy code Author and generate OpenAPI/Swagger specs Secure implementation of the authentication and authorization for public facing endpoints including session based authentication, rate limiting and request validation Remedy and refactor critical issues in the legacy code base that can impact the API implementation Implement structured logging and error tracking across the application (e.g. logs, correlation/request IDs, etc…) Setup application performance & error monitoring with proactive alerts Write unit & integrations tests for the new API endpoints Coordinate with the client team to deliver the changes with zero disruption to the current functionality & ongoing feature development You will take part in peer review of team deliverables, attend and take part in agile ceremonies, and demonstrate delivery of your work to client stakeholders at the end of each sprint We are looking for someone that has: Solid experience with legacy PHP based applications (procedural & light OOP) and comfortable with refactoring rather than rewriting from scratch Demonstrable REST API design experience including versioning strategy and documentation Hands on experience implementing API authentication, authorisation and rate limiting for existing applications Strong MySQL knowledge and able to safely work with existing schemas & queries without introduction regression issues Practical experience instrumenting PHP applications with structured logging and error tracking Familiarity with setting up monitoring and alerting techstack within a PHP based environment A testing mindset for legacy code Working knowledge of continuous delivery and continuous integration to deliver software incrementally and in an agile way (git, gitFlow, etc…) Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Working within a project management/agile delivery methodology as part of a wider team Excellent communication and teamwork skills Fluent in English Here are some other skills and experience that would be considered a plus for this role: - Exposure to Spec Driven Development, writing specs and machine readable API contracts - Hands on experience with agentic SDLC - Experience with Observability tools - Experience with security and compliance best practices #LI-BM2 Our benefits: -Health and dental insurance -Meal and food allowance -Childcare assistance -Extended paternity leave -Partnership with gyms and health and wellness professionals via Wellhub (Gympass) TotalPass; - Profit Sharing and Results Participation (PLR); -Life insurance - Continuous learning platform (CI&T University); -Discount club -Free online platform dedicated to physical, mental, and overall well-being -Pregnancy and responsible parenting course -Partnerships with online learning platforms -Language learning platform And many more!
