Job Title: Joint Use Designer Job Description We are seeking a talented Joint Use Designer to join our team, providing exceptional services in telecommunications and power delivery markets. This role involves interpreting and designing aerial fiber optic routes and ensuring the structural integrity of utility poles. Responsibilities Interpret aerial fiber optic route proposals and incorporate them into OSP designs. Import collected data into OSP design and organize it accordingly. Complete the design of aerial OSP projects using Adobe, GIS, Excel, and industry-specific software with minimal supervision. Utilize 3D modeling software to ensure proper structural integrity of utility poles. Comprehend and follow written procedural documents and verbal guidance related to OSP design. Analyze utility pole data for height clearance violations and propose make-ready requirements. Perform sag/tension calculations, check mid-span clearances, and conduct pole loading analysis. Deliver comprehensive maps showing make-ready requirements. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in Joint Use Aerial/Overhead Fiber Design. Proficiency in pole loading analysis software such as O-calc Pro and SPIDAcalc. Familiarity with NESC codes for power and communications clearance rules. Experience in drafting, engineering design, and using Adobe for engineering purposes. Experience in telecom, fiber, or power delivery. Additional Skills & Qualifications Desire to work in an Engineering Drafting/Design role. Experience with joint use fiber design and pole loading analysis software. Understanding of joint use and fiber design principles. Work Environment This is a 100% remote role, with all necessary hardware provided. Work hours are flexible, with a start time between 6am and 9am, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Opportunities for overtime are abundant, offering a stable workload due to significant rural broadband and fiber expansion work. The company provides a supportive and flexible environment, offering 2 weeks of PTO, 6 paid holidays, and covers travel expenses for training if required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
