We manage an active, revenue-generating online business alongside a development roadmap of lean, fast-turnaround Micro-SaaS products. We are seeking an ambitious, motivated junior developer or tech student who wants genuine, hands-on production experience, creative autonomy, and a direct financial stake in the platforms they help build.
Rather than an unpaid corporate internship confined to simulated tasks, this role invites you to work directly on commercial web applications, solve real architectural and frontend challenges, and participate directly in business profit distributions.
Core Responsibilities
· Platform Maintenance & Evolution: Maintain, refactor, and build features for an established commercial web platform running on October CMS and Laravel.
· Micro-SaaS Development: Collaborate on scoping, architecting, and rapidly building lean, standalone Micro-SaaS tools from concept to launch.
· Backend Architecture: Write clean, modular PHP code, design database schemas, and integrate essential external APIs (e.g., payment gateways, messaging services).
· Responsive UI / Styling: Implement clean, modern user interfaces using CSS/SCSS and ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility.
· Deployment & Maintenance: Assist in bug fixing, testing, performance optimization, and regular codebase deployments.
Technical Qualifications
Required Skills:
· Backend Development: Solid grasp of PHP fundamentals, with practical project experience or formal coursework in Laravel.
· CMS Platform: Working knowledge of October CMS, or solid Laravel fundamentals with proven ability to quickly learn the October CMS ecosystem.
· Frontend & Styling: Strong proficiency in standard CSS, modern layouts (Flexbox, Grid), and responsive design principles.
· Version Control: Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows (branching, pull requests, version tracking).
Advantageous (Nice-to-Have):
· Modern UI Frameworks: Exposure to Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, or utility-first CSS frameworks.
· Frontend Scripting: Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript (vanilla JS, Vue.js, Alpine.js, or React).
· Integrations & Databases: Experience with REST APIs, payment gateways (Stripe, PayFast, PayPal), and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
· Environment Basics: Familiarity with Linux command-line environments and standard web hosting setups.
What You Gain (Partnership Value)
· Direct Profit-Share: A structured, contractual percentage of net profits generated from the existing business operations and newly launched Micro-SaaS ventures.
· Verified Commercial Portfolio: Real, live, commercial software to showcase in your portfolio, providing concrete credibility for future career opportunities.
· Full-Lifecycle Exposure: Experience running both an existing codebase and taking brand-new software products from 0 to 1.
· Autonomous & Flexible Schedule: Asynchronous, remote workflow designed to fit comfortably around academic schedules, exams, or other commitments.
· Growth Path: Opportunity to transition into a permanent paid technical co-founder / lead developer position as products hit key revenue milestones.
How to Apply
To apply, please submit an introductory email containing the following:
· Brief Introduction: A short summary of your background, experience level, and what interests you about this collaborative model.
· Code / Portfolio Links: Links to your GitHub profile, live personal projects, or code repositories showcasing your PHP, Laravel, or web development work.
