Working under the direction of the Lead Independent Reviewer, the Junior Project Manager coordinates the day-to-day mechanics of the engagement: scheduling and stakeholder coordination, document tracking, risk register upkeep, meeting support, report production support, and weekly status reporting. The engagement runs approximately 7 to 8 weeks at 20 to 24 hours per week, performed primarily remotely with approximately 2 days onsite at state offices in Vermont, plus possible onsite support for the final executive presentation. This role interacts directly with senior government stakeholders, so excellent written and verbal communication is essential. Key Responsibilities Support project planning and coordinate the Independent Review kickoff meeting, introducing participants and walking through the review process, schedule, and logistics. Obtain the stakeholder contact list provided by the client within the first 2 days of the project (names, project roles, review roles, email addresses, and telephone numbers), keep it current, and use it to schedule all interviews and working sessions. Support the review of all pertinent materials, including contracts, statements of work, project work plans, and other documentation, by maintaining the document request register and tracking every outstanding item to closure. Attend approximately 2 days of onsite meetings at state offices, supporting information collection and stakeholder interviews with scheduling, note-taking, and follow-up tracking. Coordinate and document a teleconference with the selected system vendor. Catalog identified risks into the risk register (client template or company equivalent) and keep the register current throughout the engagement. Support facilitation of risk mitigation discussions with the client's portfolio manager, project sponsor, and stakeholders; document the specific response for each identified risk (accept, mitigate, transfer, or avoid), including planned actions, owners, and timing. Track completion of the Risk Response Plan with the portfolio manager and project sponsor ahead of the final executive review. Schedule and support other meetings and information collection as necessary. Support production of the Independent Review Report as one single consolidated document, including formatting, version control, and incorporation of the cost model and risk register into the report file (no separate spreadsheets or side documents). Apply and manage the "Draft & Confidential" watermark on draft report versions, and remove the watermark from the final version routed for executive e-signature and approval. Support preparation and logistics for the final presentation meeting with executive stakeholders, including production of three bound report copies. Track the incorporation of feedback into the final report and support its submission for final approval and engagement closeout. Prepare weekly written or verbal progress status updates for the client's portfolio manager under the Lead Reviewer's direction. Required Qualifications 3 to 5 years of project coordination or project management experience, preferably supporting IT or professional services projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the polish and judgment to interact professionally with senior government stakeholders. Strong organizational skills: scheduling across many calendars, meeting minutes, action item tracking, and document version control. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook or Teams, including formatting professional documents. Local to the Montpelier, Vermont area with reliable transportation for onsite days. Availability of 20 to 24 hours per week for the duration of the engagement, with flexibility around stakeholder meeting schedules. Authorization to work in the United States and ability to successfully complete a criminal background check; this position is W2 hourly employment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting state or local government projects. Familiarity with risk registers, RAID logs, or PMO status reporting. CAPM certification or progress toward PMP. Exposure to IT assessments, audits, independent reviews, or IV&V engagements.
