Jr. Software Developer About the Role We are building an ambitious web and mobile application that gives our lobbyists new abilities to track contacts, identify procurement opportunities, analyze competitor giving, and access information more efficiently. The Software Developer will help build, maintain, and enhance OneTSG web and mobile applications that support lobbyists and advisors across The Southern Group and TSG Advisors family of companies. This role translates business needs into practical software solutions, supports existing application infrastructure, and contributes to new tools and enhancements that improve the user experience. This role is well suited for someone with strong technical curiosity, hands-on application development experience, and the ability to learn quickly through real projects. Experience using Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools is preferred. Because the role is remote, the Software Developer must work independently, manage details carefully, and communicate clearly when questions, risks, or dependencies arise. Key Responsibilities Application Development & Enhancement Build, test, and deploy code for OneTSG web and mobile applications. Support enhancements to existing applications based on business needs, user feedback, and operational priorities. Translate business problems into practical software tools, workflows, and application features. Application Infrastructure & Support Maintain existing application infrastructure and support reliable day-to-day system performance. Assist with troubleshooting, issue resolution, and technical improvements for current applications. Support deployment pipelines and help ensure changes move through development, testing, and release in an organized way. Systems, Data & Integrations Work with databases such as MySQL and/or Postgres to support application functionality and reporting needs. Develop and support REST API integrations with internal and external systems. Use GitHub or similar tools to manage code, version control, and collaboration. AI-Assisted Development & Continuous Learning Use AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code or similar platforms, to improve workflow and support faster learning. Stay curious and continue building technical skills through hands-on projects, testing, and practical problem-solving. Ask timely questions, document decisions, and communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders. Qualifications Required: Demonstrated interest and aptitude in software development, with evidence of learning through real projects. Ability to understand business needs and use software tools to create applications that solve practical problems. Experience writing, testing, and deploying code. Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong attention to detail. Clear communication skills and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed. Preferred: PHP experience; Laravel and Livewire experience preferred. Experience with MySQL and/or Postgres. Experience with GitHub, REST API integrations, Tailwind, AlpineJS, AWS, Digital Ocean, and deployment pipelines. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or similar platforms. Some experience with design tools such as Figma.
