We're currently searching for an experienced Technology Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team of technology and engineering professionals, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure and fit-for-purpose solutions that align with business needs, enterprise architecture and technology standards. As Technology Manager, Software Engineering you'll play a critical leadership role across the delivery and operation of technology solutions within your portfolio. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams and technology leaders to drive operational excellence, uplift capability and ensure technology outcomes support Ampol/Z’s broader strategy. This is a people leadership role where you'll develop high-performing teams, provide coaching and direction, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement. What you’ll bring to Z: Leading and growing a team of talented software engineers, creating an environment where people are empowered to do their best work and continuously develop their skills. Building a strong engineering culture focused on quality, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. Partnering with Product, Architecture and Delivery leaders to turn business priorities into scalable, reliable and maintainable technology solutions. Driving engineering excellence through modern software development practices, automation, quality engineering and a strong focus on operational performance. Helping teams deliver value faster by removing barriers, simplifying processes and fostering a culture of ownership. Guiding technical decision making, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose today while supporting Ampol's long-term technology strategy. Coaching and mentoring engineers and technical leaders, building capability and creating clear pathways for growth and progression. Encouraging experimentation, innovation and continuous learning while balancing pragmatism, risk and delivery outcomes. Working across multiple squads and stakeholders to align priorities, strengthen collaboration and deliver outcomes that matter to our customers and business. About you You are a people-focused technology leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery. You'll bring: Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams in a complex enterprise environment. Strong software engineering foundations, with the ability to provide technical leadership, challenge thinking and guide teams toward sound engineering outcomes. Experience delivering and supporting business-critical applications and platforms at scale. A strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, observability and operational excellence. Ability to balance short-term delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability, resilience and technical debt management. Experience establishing engineering standards, ways of working and governance that drive quality, consistency and maintainability. A passion for building high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, talent development and creating clear career pathways. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes and influence decision-making at all levels. A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on uplifting engineering capability, driving innovation and improving delivery effectiveness across teams. Comfortable operating in complexity, navigating ambiguity and making pragmatic decisions that enable teams to deliver value quickly while managing risk.
