Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Medical Interpreter. The Medical Interpreter will provide accurate, confidential, and culturally sensitive interpretation between patients, families, and healthcare professionals via phone or virtual platforms. Daily tasks include listening carefully to medical conversations, conveying information faithfully in both languages, and clarifying terminology to ensure mutual understanding. The role involves interpreting patient histories, consent forms, treatment plans, and discharge instructions, while adhering to professional ethics and privacy regulations. The Medical Interpreter will also document interactions as required, collaborate with care teams to support patient-centered communication, and participate in training to maintain language and medical knowledge.
Qualifications

• Strong bilingual or multilingual communication skills, with native or near-native proficiency in English and at least one other language relevant to client needs.
• Demonstrated experience in medical or healthcare interpreting, including familiarity with medical terminology and clinical procedures.
• Excellent active listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills to ensure accurate and complete interpretation.
• Ability to maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and professionalism, with a solid understanding of patient privacy and ethics (e.g., HIPAA where applicable).
• Comfort working in remote virtual environments, including reliable internet access, good headset, and ability to use call center or telehealth platforms.
• Strong customer service orientation, with skills in empathy, cultural competence, and managing sensitive or difficult conversations.
• Ability to work full-time with consistent availability, manage schedules across time zones, and perform effectively in a fast-paced setting.
• Relevant training or certification in medical interpreting or healthcare communication; prior call center or telehealth experience is a plus.
