Korean or Japanese - English Interpreter

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Korean or Japanese – English Interpreter. The interpreter will provide real-time interpretation between Korean or Japanese and English in virtual settings such as phone calls, video conferences, and online meetings. Daily responsibilities include accurately conveying meaning, tone, and context; clarifying information when necessary; and maintaining strict confidentiality, especially when handling sensitive or healthcare-related information. The interpreter will document key points when needed, follow client-specific protocols, and adhere to professional ethics and HIPAA guidelines. The role also involves collaborating with coordinators and clients, managing schedules, and ensuring high-quality, culturally appropriate communication across languages.
Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Korean or Japanese and English, with excellent speaking, listening, and comprehension skills in both languages.
• Demonstrated experience in consecutive or simultaneous interpretation, with the ability to accurately convey meaning, tone, and cultural nuance.
• Ability to work effectively in remote settings, including reliable internet connectivity, familiarity with virtual meeting platforms, and professional telephone or video etiquette.
• Knowledge of confidentiality requirements; HIPAA certification or willingness to obtain it, and experience interpreting in healthcare or professional environments is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, emotional resilience, and the ability to remain neutral and professional in sensitive situations.
• Organizational skills to manage schedules, multiple assignments, and documentation, with attention to detail and time management.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or education in interpretation, linguistics, or related fields is an advantage.
• Prior remote or freelance interpreting experience and familiarity with industry standards and codes of ethics are beneficial.
