Position Summary: Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, oversees the day-to-day operations of a facility, a large laboratory or several laboratories. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others and participates in their training. Establishes priorities and schedules of projects. Coordinates execution of projects and service. Prepares quotations. Develops procedures and makes recommendations to improve unit efficiency. Develops methodology. Analyses and interprets data. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Administers accounts. Prepares budget proposals. Maintains equipment. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Provide operational support and services for researchers in the laboratory including but not limited to the purchase of common reagents/consumables stocks, and organizing lab supplies and equipment; Monitor instruments and equipment to ensure timely repairs and annual servicing. Liaise with vendors as necessary; Identify and resolve barriers for staff to perform critical experiments. Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control of the laboratory as well as to draft standard operating procedures; Coordinate personnel training and scheduling for all laboratory equipment as well as to ensure proper orientation and mentoring of new and existing staff; Serves as the point person for the laboratory and is responsible for working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety regulations in effect; Ensures proper storage of chemicals and biologic reagents/cells in compliance to OHS regulations; Monitor waste collection for labs. Ensures proper labeling of waste and coordinates hazardous waste removal; Oversight of computer and general office equipment. Maintaining cell culture cell lines bank; Perform molecular biology experiments, which include performing lentiviral and adenoviral production, drug screening, western blotting, PCR, Quantitative PCR, RNA/DNA Extraction, employment of CRISPR Cas9 Technology, gateway cloning, site directed mutagenesis, RNA Interference, protein biochemistry The list of duties and responsibilities outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an employee whose position has been matched to this generic job description.
