About Seattle Sustainable LandscapesSeattle Sustainable Landscapes is a residential design and build landscaping company based in Seattle, Washington. We create thoughtful, sustainable outdoor spaces and work across landscape design, construction, irrigation, lighting, and ongoing yard care.
Our design team works closely with project managers, estimators, and field crews to make sure our designs are not only beautiful, but also practical to build, maintain, and budget.We are looking for a Remote Landscape Designer to support our design team with residential landscape projects from concept development through construction ready documentation.
What You’ll DoAs a Landscape Designer, you will help transform client goals, site information, and design direction into clear, thoughtful, and buildable landscape plans.
You will:

Develop residential landscape concepts, layouts, and design plans
Produce accurate 2D plans, drawings, and construction documentation
Create planting plans and assist with plant selection appropriate for the Pacific Northwest
Translate site measurements, photographs, surveys, field notes, and existing conditions into accurate design drawings
Revise designs based on client feedback, budget considerations, and field conditions
Collaborate remotely with project managers, estimators, designers, and construction teams in Seattle
Coordinate design details related to hardscaping, grading, drainage, irrigation, lighting, planting, and other landscape elements
Help ensure designs are practical to construct and aligned with project budgets
Maintain organized project files, drawings, revisions, and design documentation
Participate in virtual project meetings and design reviews

What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who combines strong design judgment with technical accuracy.
You should have:

Professional experience in landscape design, landscape architecture, or a closely related field
Experience designing residential landscapes
Strong understanding of landscape plans, construction drawings, and technical documentation
Experience with landscape design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Vectorworks, Land F/X, or comparable tools
Ability to interpret site plans, surveys, measurements, photographs, and field documentation
Understanding of planting design, hardscaping, grading, drainage, and basic landscape construction principles
Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy
Ability to receive feedback and efficiently revise designs
Strong organization and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with a team while working remotely
Professional English communication skills

What Would Make You Stand OutExperience with any of the following would be especially valuable:

Residential design and build landscaping
Pacific Northwest planting and landscape design
Sustainable or ecological landscape design
Construction detailing and documentation
Landscape estimating or designing within established project budgets
Irrigation or landscape lighting coordination
3D modeling and landscape visualization
Working remotely with U.S. based design or construction teams
