Job Title: Landscape Estimator Job Description The Landscape Estimator plays a key role in winning and delivering profitable commercial landscape, irrigation, hardscape, and site development projects. In this position, you analyze plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, develop accurate cost estimates, gather vendor and subcontractor pricing, and prepare competitive proposals. You support disciplined estimating practices, help manage bid cycles, and contribute to strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. Responsibilities Review project drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, ASIs, and other bid documents to clearly identify project requirements and scope. Complete detailed quantity takeoffs for landscape, irrigation, hardscape, and related site development scopes. Prepare accurate project estimates, budgets, and competitive bid proposals that align with project requirements and company standards. Obtain, evaluate, and compare pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective and reliable proposals. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential project risks during the estimating process and communicate these findings proactively. Communicate with general contractors, owners, and internal stakeholders to clarify project requirements, address bid questions, and resolve discrepancies. Track bid opportunities and maintain organized estimating records throughout the bidding cycle, including bid status and due dates. Follow up on submitted bids and maintain records of bid outcomes to support continuous improvement and business development efforts. Maintain and update estimating databases, templates, labor production rates, and material pricing information to reflect current market conditions. Utilize estimating and project management platforms such as Bluebeam, Knowify, LMN, ClickUp, and related software tools to perform takeoffs and manage bids. Evaluate actual project costs versus estimated costs and use these insights to improve future bid accuracy and estimating practices. Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to support reliable pricing and repeat business. Assist with contractor prequalification documentation, company qualifications, capability statements, and proposal packages. Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and upcoming project opportunities to inform estimating strategies and business planning. Review estimates, spreadsheets, and proposal documentation for accuracy, consistency, and completeness prior to submission. Maintain confidentiality of company pricing, estimating data, and client information at all times. Essential Skills Minimum of 3+ years of estimating experience within landscape construction, irrigation, civil construction, site development, or closely related industries. Proven ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, specifications, and contract documents. Hands-on experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing construction cost estimates. Solid understanding of construction means and methods, labor productivity, and material pricing. Strong mathematical and analytical skills to develop accurate and detailed estimates. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. High level of organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to estimate accuracy and data integrity. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for spreadsheets, analysis, and proposal preparation. Experience with construction, bidding, and preconstruction processes in a commercial environment. Ability to use estimating software and tools to support takeoffs, pricing, and proposal development. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience estimating commercial landscape, hardscape, irrigation, or site development projects. Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, including experience performing digital takeoffs. Familiarity with Knowify, LMN, ClickUp, Document Crunch, or similar construction and project management software platforms. Knowledge of subcontractor procurement and bid solicitation processes, including obtaining and reviewing competitive quotes. Experience supporting business development efforts, including contractor prequalification submissions and capability statements. Background in commercial construction, construction management, or project management environments. Experience working with proposals, pricing strategies, and subcontractor estimating processes. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to support long-term collaboration. Work Environment This role offers flexibility and is open to remote work for candidates with strong relevant experience. You will primarily work from your chosen location using digital tools and estimating software, with occasional site visits for larger projects, typically 1–2 times per year, to validate conditions and better understand project requirements. You will regularly use technologies such as Bluebeam, Knowify, LMN, ClickUp, Document Crunch, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and other construction-related platforms to perform takeoffs, manage bids, and prepare proposals.
