Job Description Lead, Contracts & Procurement Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada Employment Type: Regular Full Time Workplace Type: Hybrid About our Vancouver Office Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains, Teck’s Corporate Office sits in one of Canada’s most culturally diverse cities. Role Overview Reporting to the Manager, Contracts and Procurement, the Lead, Procurement & Contracts provides technical expertise in developing procurement and contracting strategies, sourcing initiatives, competitive bidding processes, and the award, administration, and management of commercial agreements. The role also leads the review, analysis, negotiation, settlement of claims, and close-out of agreements for material supply and related service contracts supporting Teck Resources' major capital projects portfolio, with a primary focus on the Red Dog (RD) MLE Project. Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety, environmental and social rules and procedures Develop project procurement and contracting strategies, including procurement plans and packaging approaches, by evaluating project risks, opportunities, and drivers while ensuring alignment with the Teck Contracts & Procurement Management Standard, Project Charter, and Project Execution Plan (PEP). Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, RFP development, evaluations, purchase order and contract execution, negotiations, amendments, variations, administration, and lifecycle management in accordance with corporate governance and statutory requirements. Develop and lead a remote arctic logistics program and platform to support robust project supply chain efficiencies and the mitigation of delivery risks and potential impacts of delayed material and equipment availability for the project. Develop and implement advanced commercial techniques to leverage value creation opportunities. Prepare reports to track compliance with functional/project KPIs. Support the team in providing functional expertise, mentoring, and guidance whilst encouraging a positive team culture. Develop and put into action project procurement workflows and ensure Project Service Providers' procurement activities align with project procedures, company policies, and industry guidelines. Assist in evaluating project time and cost claims. Collaborate with Teck legal to compile key supplier Master Services Agreements. Assist in developing and maintaining a supplier library, including contact information, corporate overviews, and supplier scorecards. Participate in developing and implementing new procurement systems, techniques and methods. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in a related field. A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project procurement with experience supporting brownfield and underground mining projects on major capital projects. Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on field experience. Extensive experience in creating and leading purchase agreements and contracts, including negotiation, administration, and change management. Proven knowledge of project management principles, including risk management, cost control, schedule management, and change management processes. Proven experience supporting multiple phases of project execution, from procurement planning and execution through contract close-out. Knowledge of underground mining engineering and contractor execution methodologies, experienced in interpreting technical drawings, reports, scopes of work, and evaluating contractor performance. Working knowledge of ERP procurement/purchasing systems. Proven experience with freight forwarding, remote arctic logistics, tariff mitigation, brokerage and quality surveillance. Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and project partners. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint. Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
