About the Role We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist to join a healthcare-focused organization and lead the analysis of complex, structured and unstructured data. This role will use advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, machine learning, and data visualization to solve complex business problems and provide actionable insights to leadership and stakeholders. The Lead Data Scientist will work closely with cross-functional teams, lead high-priority projects, develop and maintain data models and algorithms, and translate complex findings into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences. Key Responsibilities Lead high-priority and complex data science projects that impact organizational decision-making. Develop custom data models, algorithms, and analytical solutions for business needs. Perform research, analysis, predictive modeling, data mining, visualization, and pattern analysis. Develop and test hypotheses and communicate findings in a clear, actionable manner. Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques, including regression, clustering, forecasting, A/B testing, and statistical testing. Analyze structured and unstructured data from large, complex, and sometimes incomplete sources. Evaluate existing models and assess their accuracy and effectiveness. Identify and resolve data quality and data process issues while improving efficiency, scalability, and productivity. Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements and identify opportunities where data science can improve operations. Present analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior and executive-level leadership. Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to other data scientists and team members. Assist with the evaluation of data science tools, technologies, vendors, and solutions. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables and deadlines. Translate complex technical information and analytical results into meaningful business insights. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related STEM field. 7+ years of professional data science experience. Strong programming and statistical analysis skills. Advanced knowledge of SQL and database management. Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and their practical applications, including clustering, decision trees, artificial neural networks, and predictive modeling. Strong knowledge of advanced statistical concepts and methods, including regression, statistical testing, distributions, forecasting, and A/B testing. Experience working with large, complex, and incomplete datasets. Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong presentation skills and comfort presenting insights to senior and executive-level leadership. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Data Science or a related field. Experience working in a hospital, healthcare, medical informatics, healthcare IT, healthcare finance/revenue cycle, or EHR data environment. Experience applying data science to healthcare operations or business challenges. Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other data scientists.
