Job Title: Lead HVAC Design Engineer Job Description The Lead HVAC Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of HVAC systems and specifications for food and beverage facilities. This role focuses exclusively on HVAC system design, ensuring that all solutions meet regulatory requirements, support production processes, and provide reliable, efficient environmental control throughout complex industrial facilities. Responsibilities Lead HVAC design projects from initial concept through final completion, ensuring high-quality and compliant system designs. Develop detailed HVAC system layouts and specifications for food and beverage production facilities. Apply comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations to all HVAC designs. Interface directly with clients to understand production requirements and translate them into HVAC system needs. Determine space loads associated with processes, equipment, and occupancy to properly size HVAC systems. Create ductwork designs that optimize airflow, efficiency, and maintainability within facility constraints. Prepare plan review submittals and supporting documentation for regulatory and client approvals. Review contractor submittals and shop drawings to verify alignment with design intent and specifications. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to resolve design issues and support project delivery. Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, templates, and best practices for HVAC projects. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design or closely related mechanical engineering roles. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Strong proficiency in HVAC design for industrial or process-driven facilities. Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles as applied to HVAC systems. Ability to interpret and apply relevant building codes, standards, and regulations. Experience with Revit for mechanical and HVAC design modeling. Proficiency in mechanical design, including system sizing and equipment selection. Understanding of plumbing systems and their integration with mechanical and HVAC designs. Ability to produce clear, accurate design documents and specifications. Strong client-facing communication skills to gather requirements and present design solutions. Attention to detail when reviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with plumbing design in commercial or industrial facilities. Exposure to food and beverage facility projects or other process-driven environments. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis experience is a plus; training is available for candidates interested in developing this skill. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound engineering decisions. Interest in working on a variety of projects across different regions and facility types. Work Environment This role operates in a small, newer office located in downtown Holland with an open office concept that encourages collaboration and communication among team members. The position offers a hybrid schedule with remote flexibility, allowing a blend of in-office and remote work. Engineers work on projects across the country, engaging with diverse food and beverage facility types and design challenges. The environment emphasizes teamwork, professional development, and exposure to a wide range of project styles and technologies. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Holland, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
