The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. We are seeking an experienced Lead, Payment Abuse to join our global Trust Operations team. This role is responsible for identifying, investigating, and mitigating complex payment fraud and abuse risks across LinkedIn’s payments ecosystem, while driving operational excellence, compliance oversight, and cross-functional risk management. The ideal candidate combines deep payments-risk expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and operational leadership to navigate complex business challenges. This individual will lead investigations and strategic initiatives, identify emerging risks and control gaps, influence stakeholders, and serve as a subject matter expert within the Payment Abuse organization. Key Responsibilities Lead complex payment abuse investigations, identify root causes and control gaps, and drive remediation through resolution. Use SQL and data analysis to identify fraud trends, monitor chargeback and fraud performance, and generate actionable insights. Monitor payment network and regulatory thresholds, investigate performance drivers, and support compliance and remediation efforts. Drive improvements to fraud controls, operational workflows, monitoring frameworks, and tooling. Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Payments, Operations, and external payment partners to address complex payment-risk challenges. Own initiatives from problem identification through implementation and impact measurement, operating effectively in ambiguous environments. Serve as an escalation point for high-risk or complex cases and provide guidance and mentorship to other team members. Contribute to operational strategy, regional coverage planning, and continuous improvement of Payment Abuse programs. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of experience in payment fraud, payment abuse, payments risk, or a related field, including experience leading complex fraud, chargeback, or dispute investigations. 3+ years of experience with payment processors, acquirers, card-network rules, fraud-monitoring programs, chargeback programs, or scheme-compliance and remediation initiatives (VAMP, Mastercard, Auspaynet). 3+ years of experience designing or enhancing fraud controls, monitoring frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies supporting payment abuse prevention, chargeback management, or scheme-compliance programs. 3+ years of hands-on SQL and data-analysis experience, including analyzing large datasets, identifying fraud trends, defining risk metrics or KPIs, and translating findings into operational or product improvements. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing or improving fraud controls, monitoring frameworks, operational processes, and risk mitigation strategies. Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving complex issues to resolution across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Payment,, and Operations. Experience mentoring analysts and serving as a subject matter expert within a payments risk, fraud, or Trust & Safety organization. Experience operating in a global, high-volume digital payments environment. Experience influencing product, policy, or platform improvements to reduce payment abuse risk. Strong understanding of payment processors, acquirers, card-network operations, fraud controls, chargebacks, and disputes. Experience with alternative payment methods and regional payment ecosystems (SEPA, iDEAL, ACH, digital wallets). Experience developing long-term fraud prevention strategies, operating models, or program roadmaps.
