At Aftershoot, we’re building a global community of photographers who spend less time behind their screens and more time behind the lens. Every feature we create, every update we ship, is designed to make post-processing easier, faster, and smarter for photographers around the world. From culling to editing to retouching. Our AI tools do all the heavy lifting, so photographers can focus on what they do best: capturing moments, telling stories, and creating magic. We’re a fast-growing, passionate team backed over 100K+ active users globally. Double-digit ARR in less than 4 years, amazing investors and team who truly believe in our mission. Our mission is clear: Become the default companion for every photographer in the world. If you care deeply about building meaningful products, working with curious and driven teammates, and being part of a team that genuinely loves what they do, we’d love to meet you. Let’s create the future of AI in photography, together. About the Role This role sits at the intersection of photography craft, quality operations, and people leadership. As Lead – Photography Ops, you'll own the engine that feeds our AI: the datasets, the standards they're labelled against, and the team of QCs and vendor partners who do that work. You'll set the quality bar from a photographer's point of view, then build the systems, rubrics, and rhythms that keep it consistent at scale. You'll be the bridge between what photographers actually expect from a cull and what our ML and Product teams build toward. When the two drift apart, you're the person who spots it, quantifies it, and drives it back into alignment. If you've shot professionally, have led teams or vendors, and get satisfaction from turning subjective taste into a repeatable standard, this role is for you. 💼 What you’ll do: Own the photography QC function end to end: quality standards, capacity, and turnaround Hire, train, and manage a team of in-house QCs and reviewers Manage external labelling vendors: scoping, onboarding, SLAs, capacity planning, and cost Build and maintain labelling guidelines, rubrics, and edge-case documentation Run regular calibration sessions to keep reviewers aligned and reduce subjective drift Audit labelled datasets and vendor output; track accuracy, agreement rates, and rework Define and report the metrics that matter: quality scores, TAT, cost per image, error patterns Translate recurring failure patterns into clear, prioritised feedback for ML and Product Partner with ML on dataset planning: what we need labelled, in what volume, by when Represent the photographer's perspective in product and model decisions 🫂What You’ll Bring 6+ years of experience in photography, creative operations, or a related field, including time leading a team or managing vendors Professional photography experience, or deep hands-on expertise across photography workflows Strong command of culling and editing tools (Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, Capture One, etc.) Ability to critique image selections and articulate why something works or doesn't Comfort building process from scratch: guidelines, QA checks, review cadences A data-friendly approach to quality - you're comfortable with spreadsheets, dashboards, and tracking numbers over time Clear written communication, especially when giving structured feedback Experience with data labelling or annotation operations is a strong plus Comfort working from the Delhi office on a full time basis What happens after you apply? Step 1: If your profile aligns with our vibe and requirements for the role, our people team will reach out to you for a brief phone call. Step 2: If everything aligns, your next chat will be with one of your future team members to better understand the role and your experience. Step 3: You will then be given a task - this helps us evaluate your thought process and help you showcase your expertise. Step 4: If everything goes well, you will meet the leadership for a quick bar-raiser round. Step 5: If you do manage to clear all rounds, this is the point we make an offer, shake hands, and welcome you to the team. You will work with: Captain: Aakansha Team Members: Shubham, Sandeep, Keshav, Monu and the rest of the Aftershoot team.
