About the Role As a Lead Product Engineer, AI Ventures , you will own the design direction for early-stage AI product opportunities within Thomson Reuters’ AI Ventures incubation team. You will use user research, rapid prototyping, experimentation, and strong product judgment to validate ideas and reduce product uncertainty. Working closely with Product and Engineering, you will turn ambiguous customer and workflow problems into clear, testable concepts and help determine which opportunities should progress toward production. You will: Lead product discovery and concept validation through user research, rapid prototyping, and business context. Turn ambiguous customer problems and workflows into clear, testable product concepts. Rapidly prototype different product directions to evaluate workflow, product value, and user experience. Use evidence from users, Product, and Engineering to recommend whether ideas should be built, changed, paused, or stopped. Own the end-to-end product experience , including workflows, screens, key states, and interaction details. Design AI-powered professional experiences that go beyond simple chat interfaces and static screens. Help users understand AI-generated outputs, their limitations, and the choices available to them. Create reusable patterns for AI-assisted workflows with an emphasis on transparency, accessibility, user control, and trust . Partner closely with Product and Engineering from discovery through delivery. Translate prototypes into feasible product direction and remain involved as successful concepts move toward production. Help establish a high bar for product and experience quality across early AI Ventures products. Balance rapid experimentation with enterprise expectations around quality, accessibility, trust, and compliance. About You You are an experienced product-focused professional who enjoys working in 0→1, incubation, venture, startup, or early-stage product environments . You are comfortable working with ambiguity, speaking directly with users, testing ideas quickly, and turning insights into clear product recommendations. You bring: Significant experience designing digital products, ideally including new products or early-stage concepts . A strong portfolio or work examples demonstrating product thinking, interaction design, visual design quality, and shipped product experiences . Experience designing AI-powered products, complex decision-support tools, or professional workflow products . Strong experience with user discovery, customer conversations, rapid prototyping, and concept testing . Ability to move quickly from an idea to a testable prototype using modern design and prototyping tools, including AI-assisted tools where appropriate. Experience partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and senior stakeholders . Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain design rationale, customer insights, and product evidence. Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments where accessibility, trust, transparency, or compliance are important. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $136,000 USD - $253,000 USD. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $118,400 USD - $219,800 USD. For Ontario, Canada, the base compensation range for this role is $140,600 CAD - $190,600 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
