Role Expectations: Lead the design and engineering of high voltage substations (up to 500kV), including physical layout, protection & control, grounding, and equipment specifications Serve as the technical authority for substation engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality Oversee and mentor a team of engineers and designers; provide technical guidance and review work products Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and technical requirements Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, bill of materials, and technical documentation Support field activities, including site assessments, commissioning support, and issue resolution Ensure compliance with industry standards (NESC, IEEE, NEC), utility requirements, and company engineering practices Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource planning for assigned engineering tasks Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and standards What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required); PE license strongly preferred 8+ years of substation engineering experience, including leadership or lead engineer responsibilities Strong knowledge of high voltage substation design, protection & control, and applicable industry standards Experience working with utilities, EPC firms, or large scale power delivery projects Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, or similar tools Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams Ability to travel for site visits and attend the designated office one day per week Pay Range $130,000 – 180,000: Why Join K&A?
