Posted Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 4:00 AM Position Summary The Legal Intern will support the Legal Department of a growing life insurance and annuity company by assisting attorneys and legal professionals with research, policy & procedure drafting, regulatory analysis, and other legal projects. This internship is designed for a first-year law student interested in gaining practical in-house legal experience within the insurance and financial services industry. The intern will have exposure to a broad range of legal matters, including the insurance regulatory landscape, compliance, and insurance operational issues. This role provides an opportunity to work directly with attorneys and legal staff while developing an understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing life insurance and annuity products. Key Responsibilities Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on issues related to insurance law, corporate law, and financial services regulation. Assist attorneys with the review, drafting, and organization of contracts, non-disclosure agreements, vendor agreements, and other legal documents. Support state insurance regulatory research and tracking of legislative and regulatory developments. Review and summarize statutes, regulations, regulatory guidance, and case law affecting the life insurance and annuity industry. Assist with compliance-related projects and internal policy reviews. Attend legal department meetings and collaborate with business stakeholders across the organization. Perform other legal and administrative tasks as assigned. Qualifications Required Completion of first year (1L) at an accredited law school. Strong academic performance. Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Interest in insurance, financial services, corporate law, securities, compliance, or regulatory law. Familiarity with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis. Competencies Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn Strong written and verbal communication skills Sound judgment and professionalism Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Collaborative team player with a customer-service mindset High ethical standards and integrity Learning Opportunities During the internship, the student may gain exposure to: State insurance regulation and regulatory filings Life insurance operations Product distribution matters Privacy and data protection laws Corporate governance Contract negotiation and management Enterprise compliance and risk management Duration Summer internship (10–12 weeks) Full-time or Part-time (approximately 30-40 hours per week) Compensation Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, education, and market conditions.
