Thomso n Reuters Foundation is looking for a Global Legal Manager to join our TrustLaw team , within our Access to Law programme . Under our Access to Law programme, we work with lawyers, civil society and media organisations to make the law more accessible to those who need it most. We facilitate access to law through our leading legal services and programmes, including TrustLaw , the the world's leading pro bono legal service . TrustLaw partners with leading law firms and corporate legal teams to facilitate free legal assistance , critical operational support, actionable data and resources for civil society organisations , social enterprises and independent media around the globe. TrustLaw also produces original legal research on key social and policy issues to support advocacy and law reform, and delivers capacity-building workshops on legal topics worldwide. About the Role The Global Legal Manager plays a central role in the TrustLaw service, working with the global team to ensure high standards in project scoping and management, and leading efforts to strengthen engagement with our legal network. This role is also responsible for delivering key TrustLaw and Access to Law initiatives . You will report to TrustLaw's Head of Legal . You will line manage a Programme Coordinator and a Legal Research Officer. This is a permanent role based in London . About the Role As a Global Legal Manager within Trustlaw , at the Thomson Reuters Foundation Provide strategic direction for the Global Legal Team and in re lati on to the T rustLaw pro bono ser vice , helping to strengthen engagement with our legal network, track emerging trends in the pro bono sector, and maintain high service standards. Coordinate the development of an annual strategy, plan, and targets for the team. Lead legal project review to ensure a high degree of consistency, quality, and professionalism across TrustLaw's pro bono projects. Drive knowledge management for legal scoping and research processes. K eep guidance current, signpost resources for the team, promot e best practices, and identify opportunities for new guidance and training. Drive innovation by identifying , testing and implementing tech , AI and process improvements for efficiency and quality across the project lifecycle, from legal scoping and matching to research project management. Where needed, collaborate with the ProductTech and Global Programme Teams to implement solutions. Work closely with the Head of Legal to oversee TrustLaw's portfolio of strategic legal research, including reviewing projects, ensuring sensible allocation of project leads, and strengthening our approach to research throughout its lifecycle. Oversee TrustLaw's pro bono project flow and connections, working with the Programme Coordinator to monitor key metrics, troubleshoot queries related to offers and connections and the weekly pro bono opportunities email sent to our legal network. Work with the Head of Legal and Director of TrustLaw to strengthen engagement with our legal network and the broader pro bono sector, including leading or co-leading key partnerships and outreach initiatives . Coordina te and work with the Programm e Coord inat or to activel y t rack our Giving P rogramme , in cluding the development of annual donor impact reports. Drive and support (as applicable) strategic pro bono sector initiatives, from planning, kick-off, to project management and successful delivery, which may include : TrustLaw Index of Pro Bono, our b iennial global benchmark report on the scale and trends of the pro bono legal sector . Fees & Hours, our annual data collection effort with our legal network to quantify the value of pro bono we deliver each year. Other pro bono sector resources and thought leadership. Line manage the Global Legal Team ( a Legal Research Officer and Programme Coordinator ) and support their growth, development, and performance. Co-chair the Legal Team Meetings and deputise for Head of Legal , as needed , such as during periods of leave . About You To be a Global Legal Manager within Trustlaw at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will likle have: Qualified lawyer with at least 5+ years' experience practicing in any jurisdiction , ideally in a corporate/commercial legal environment in the charities or corporate sector (law firm or in-house). Strong attention to detail, with experience developing and driving processes, workflows, and guidance documents. A hands-on, proactive professional with a dynamic, creative, and solutions -focused approach. Experience working within a global, cross-functional team, including line management experience. Proven project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and to brief . Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
