What to Expect in the Role:
An opportunity to work within the Licensing Team at Stratford on Avon District Council has become available.
The Licensing Team works hard to maintain delivery of its exemplary service to meet the demands of local businesses.
We are looking to recruit a Licensing Officer to enable us to continue to meet these demands and to continue to move our service delivery forward. Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to make an immediate start in the role.
The team is responsible for issuing and administering a range of licenses, registrations and permissions as well as providing detailed advice to businesses and the public in this regard. It is desirable that the applicant has experience of processing and determining, issuing and enforcing a range of licenses, consents and permissions. The successful applicant should be able to provide detailed advice to the public on all the licenses issued by the Authority. The ability to investigate offences and to present evidence to a Licensing Panel or through the Court process in accordance with legislative requirements would be essential to this role.
You will be required to work out of hours on occasions, usually by prior arrangement. Therefore, flexibility around working hours is essential.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details):
- Processing and determining applications and registrations in line with legislative timescales.
- Accurate record keeping to enable the determination of Licences.
- Provide technical advice and expertise on licensing matters and investigate complaints relating to all aspects of licensing.
- The ability to work on your own and manage your own workloads.

- Excellent organisation skills, someone who is thorough, with an excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of audiences.
- An enthusiastic attitude, flexible and adaptable to change.
- Experience of preparing and presenting formal reports and presentations.
- Excellent Customer and Relationship management skills, at all levels.
