We are growing and looking for a new team member to join as a Linux Systems Engineer (100%) Your Role As a systems engineer in the operations team, you will operate and monitor the Threema services and help build the infrastructure behind them. Your work keeps our systems secure, reliable, and scalable – protecting the privacy of millions of people. Our infrastructure is built on open source technologies, and we expect you to feel at home in this ecosystem. Your Tasks Maintenance of a virtualization environment (Proxmox) and administration of virtual servers Administration of Linux-based systems (RHEL); FreeBSD knowledge is a plus Operation, maintenance and further development of our infrastructure (services, networking, monitoring and alerting) Deployment and maintenance of containerized applications Management of our CI/CD infrastructure (GitLab CI) in collaboration with our developers Participation in 7×24 on-call duty Your Skills Technical experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar role Experience with server virtualization Expertise in IT security (VPN, firewall, system hardening, etc.) Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems Knowledge of automation and config-as-code solutions Experience with monitoring solutions Experience with OCI containers (Docker, Podman) and ideally experience with container orchestration Experience with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL is a plus Experience with managing CI/CD infrastructure (especially GitLab CI) is a plus Soft skills: High level of awareness with regards to IT security and privacy Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail Willingness to learn new technologies and concepts Good written and spoken German and English (at least B2) We are also happy to accept applications from people who meet many but not all of these criteria.
