Logistics Engineer Location: Irving, Texas (Hybrid: Mon–Thursday in office, Friday remote) Reports To: Network Optimization Manager Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000 + Bonus Why This Role Matters At PrimeSource Building Products, our supply chain is a critical driver of customer satisfaction and business performance. The Logistics Engineer plays a key role in optimizing how we move products across our network—improving delivery efficiency, reducing costs, and maximizing fleet productivity. This role directly impacts our ability to scale operations, enhance service levels, and make smarter, data-driven decisions across our transportation network. You will partner with cross-functional teams to design solutions that improve how we operate today and build for the future. Position Summary The Logistics Engineer is responsible for conducting research, data analysis, and modeling to support the optimization of the PrimeSource and Wolf supply chain network. This role focuses on designing and engineering both inbound and outbound transportation operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the fleet. The position analyzes data, evaluates delivery requirements, and performs mapping and network analysis to optimize logistics processes. This includes identifying opportunities for route optimization, improving fleet utilization, and enhancing driver productivity. The role requires evaluating operational tradeoffs, assessing service levels, and delivering data-driven recommendations that improve performance and reduce cost. Key Responsibilities Network Optimization & Design Develop and oversee network models to evaluate transportation and distribution strategies Conduct route optimization analyses using real-time and historical data to improve delivery efficiency and reduce transit time Consolidate shipments across service regions to maximize load capacity and reduce transportation costs while maintaining service levels Strategic Analysis & Business Case Development Evaluate cost, service, and operational tradeoffs to identify improvement opportunities Develop business cases to support network optimization and transportation strategy decisions Present data-driven recommendations to leadership to enhance operational performance Tools, Data & Process Enablement Utilize tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and TMS platforms (e.g., SAP TM) Conduct scenario modeling, capacity planning, and network analysis Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Transportation teams to implement solutions Provide guidance and support to peers and stakeholders to drive consistent analytical standards Required Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights Excellent communication and presentation skills Strong business acumen with understanding of cost and service drivers Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional teams High ethical standards and alignment with company values Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science) required Master’s degree preferred Minimum of 5 years of experience in network optimization, transportation planning, or supply chain engineering Experience with final mile delivery, warehousing, and transportation management systems (e.g., SAP TM) Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python preferred) Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred Work Conditions Hybrid work environment based in Irving, Texas Monday through Friday schedule, with additional hours as needed Travel requirement: less than 10% Primarily office-based with occasional visits to operational facilities PrimeSource BluePrint – How You Will Succeed At PrimeSource, our values guide how we work and win together: Care – Support your team and stakeholders through thoughtful, data-driven decisions Winning Together – Collaborate across teams to deliver shared success Working Hard – Take ownership and drive results with accountability Working Smart – Use data, tools, and insights to solve problems efficiently Working Fast – Act with urgency in a dynamic, growth-focused environment About PrimeSource Building Products PrimeSource Building Products is a leading distributor of building materials across North America, operating more than 34 distribution centers and supporting professional contractors with a wide range of products.
