M&A Analyst

Job Title: M&A Analyst

Location: Remote (LATAM / CEE / South Africa)

Salary Range: 1,500 USD/month + Performance Bonus (20% of net fees generated)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM (CST)

Note: Independent Contractor Position

Own the evaluation of acquisition opportunities by conducting discovery calls with business owners, assessing companies against investment criteria, and identifying qualified acquisition targets. You'll combine commercial analysis with executive-level communication to help move high-potential businesses through the acquisition pipeline.

This role is ideal for a finance professional with experience in M&A, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, or transaction advisory who enjoys speaking directly with business owners and evaluating acquisition opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct discovery calls and interviews with business owners regarding potential acquisition opportunities.
• Build trust and establish credibility with founders and executives.
• Evaluate businesses against predefined acquisition and investment criteria.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative information to determine whether opportunities should advance.
• Prepare concise business summaries and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed CRM records of conversations, findings, and next steps.
• Coordinate follow-up communication with business owners to gather additional information.
• Identify business strengths, risks, and areas requiring further due diligence.
• Collaborate with acquisition teams to move qualified opportunities through the pipeline.
• Recommend improvements to qualification processes and sourcing strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Investment, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in M&A, corporate finance, transaction advisory, valuation, investment banking, private equity, commercial banking, business consulting, or a similar analytical role.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to build rapport with business owners over phone and video calls.
• Ability to evaluate businesses and make sound commercial decisions.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable conducting multiple discovery interviews each week.
• Experience using CRM systems to document client interactions.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with buy-side acquisitions or search fund operations.
• Understanding of financial statements and business valuation principles.
• Experience qualifying acquisition targets.
• Background in entrepreneurship, commercial lending, or business consulting.
