Mainframe Storage Engineer (z/OS) | Remote / Hybrid Stockholm

Empiric are supporting a leading global organisation on a critical Mainframe Storage requirement.

This is a high-priority opportunity for an experienced Mainframe Storage Engineer to manage and optimise enterprise storage operations within a complex z/OS environment.

You’ll be responsible for administering IBM DS8000 storage systems, supporting GDPS backup and disaster recovery solutions, and ensuring the performance, availability, security and reliability of the wider Mainframe storage environment.

Key Skills & Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience administering IBM DS8000 storage systems.
• Strong expertise with GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex).
• In-depth knowledge of z/OS storage architecture and operations.
• Storage capacity planning and forecasting experience.
• Storage performance monitoring, analysis and tuning.
• Backup, recovery and disaster recovery experience.
• Strong storage incident investigation and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of storage security, data integrity and data-protection standards.
• Experience supporting critical enterprise Mainframe environments.
• Strong technical documentation and knowledge-sharing skills.

Nice to Haves

• Experience delivering storage infrastructure migrations.
• REXX scripting experience.
• Python scripting or automation experience.
• Experience supporting major infrastructure changes and production launches.
• Experience collaborating across Mainframe and wider infrastructure teams.

Contract Details

Location: Stockholm or remote within Sweden

Contract Setup: Freelance / B2B

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

Working Requirements: Flexibility to support planned production launches after 17:00 or on Saturdays when required.
