Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square, Edmonton. The Manager, Continuing Education Curriculum Strategy and Quality, provides strategic leadership for the design, quality, governance, and continuous improvement of Continuing Education’s non-credit curriculum portfolio, comprising 250+ online courses and 50+ certificate and diploma programs. The Manager works in partnership with Continuing Education leadership and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure curriculum reflects learner needs, industry expectations, adult learning principles, and University quality standards. The position provides specialized leadership in curriculum strategy, learning outcomes, assessment, academic integrity, instructor standards, curriculum governance, and continuous improvement. The Manager leads a team of two, including an Instructional Designer and Learning Experience Developer. Curriculum Governance and Quality Assurance Develop and maintain curriculum quality standards, frameworks, policies, and processes. Lead quality assurance reviews and curriculum governance across the Continuing Education portfolio. Establish processes for the development, revision, and retirement of non-credit programs and courses. Ensure curriculum aligns with adult learning principles, online learning practices, industry requirements, and University standards. Program Learning Outcomes, Assessment Strategy, and AI Integration Establish standards for program and course learning outcomes and their alignment with learning activities and assessments. Guide the development of authentic, workplace-relevant assessments. Establish assessment standards and best practices for non-credit programming. Support responsible integration of AI into curriculum, learning, and assessment practices. Curriculum Lifecycle Management Lead systematic curriculum review and renewal across 250+ courses and 50+ programs. Develop multi-year curriculum maintenance and renewal plans. Lead curriculum refresh and major program redesign initiatives. Maintain curriculum inventory, documentation, tagging, and version control. Instructor Standards and Academic Excellence Establish instructor qualification, onboarding, and curriculum orientation standards. Collaborate with Continuing Education leadership on instructor recruitment and evaluation. Support instructors in effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices. Promote academic integrity and academic quality across the portfolio. Continuous Improvement and Data-Informed Decision Making Analyze learner feedback, LMS analytics, completion rates, assessment outcomes, and program performance data. Establish curriculum quality indicators and performance measures. Lead post-launch program reviews and quality improvement initiatives. Recommend curriculum improvements based on evidence, emerging trends, and stakeholder input. Learning Experience and Engagement Strategy Establish standards for learner engagement across online, hybrid, and in-person programming. Promote active, experiential, and workplace-applied learning. Collaborate with instructional design and learning experience teams to enhance learner experience and consistency across the portfolio. Strategic Leadership Provide strategic advice on curriculum strategy, portfolio planning, and new program development. Lead course production activities and supervise the Instructional Designer and Learning Experience Developer. Monitor emerging trends in adult education, workforce development, micro-credentials, and online learning. Maintain relationships with professional associations and advisory committees to ensure curriculum currency and relevance. Support accreditation, credential frameworks, and external quality reviews, where applicable. Develop and maintain a multi-year curriculum strategy aligned with Continuing Education and University priorities. Education Master's degree in Education, Adult Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, or a related field is required. Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and progressively responsible experience in curriculum development, educational quality assurance, instructional design, continuing education, or post-secondary program management may be considered. Experience 5-10 years of progressive experience in curriculum development, instructional design, educational quality assurance, or academic program management. Experience managing curriculum across multiple programs or large educational portfolios. Experience developing online courses and programs. Experience performing quality assurance reviews. Experience working with adult learners and continuing education. Experience leading cross-functional teams and complex projects. Knowledge and Skills Curriculum design and mapping. Learning outcomes and competency-based education. Assessment design and evaluation. Adult learning theory. Quality assurance frameworks. Program evaluation methodologies. Online learning course production cycles and practices. Learning analytics and educational data analysis. Project management and change leadership. Stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
