About The Role We are seeking a seasoned data professional with experience in fast-paced environments to lead our data infrastructure development and governance efforts. This role will report to the Director of Data Strategy within the Data, Strategy, and Integrations organization, with a strong dotted-line alignment to Product - ensuring priorities are directly driven by the product roadmap. This role is critical to maintaining and accelerating the foundation of Global Dining’s Product analytics and AI capabilities. You will build and scale the unified data architecture that underpins the product roadmap- owning pipelines, data models, and reusable datasets that directly accelerate product initiatives and data operationalization across the enterprise. This work ensures the continued evolution of a forward-looking AI strategy by strengthening the underlying data platform required to support it. As an analytics infrastructure subject matter expert, your work will focus on proactively identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency, performance, and reliability of our data pipelines, while improving scalability and maintainability. It will include optimizing existing code and data architecture, engineering new integrations, and creating reusable, governed datasets that enable faster product development at scale. As a governance subject matter expert, your work will focus on driving data security and leading the regulatory and contractual compliance initiatives across our infrastructure. You will partner with Compliance and Privacy teams to complete Information Security assessments, ensure alignment between third party services and Amex requirements, and coordinate service contract renewals – maintaining the integrity and reliability of our analytics ecosystem. Finally, as a member of a lean data team, you will oversee a wide range of responsibilities, including partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to identify key data initiatives aligned to product priorities, managing project intake, and developing training programs to enhance self-service data capabilities across the organization. Develop and maintain our data platform and pipeline lifecycle management, from strategy to execution while ensuring data quality and availability Proactively identify, design, and implement improvements to data pipelines and architecture to enhance performance, efficiency, and maintainability Optimize and evolve our data stack (Snowflake, Fivetran, DBT, Looker) to improve performance, reduce cost, and support scalable product and AI initiatives Build and maintain robust, reusable, and governed datasets that accelerate product development and enable AI capabilities at scale Develop new data integrations and solutions while automating manual processes using Python, SQL, Unix shell scripting, Jenkins, and GitHub Refactor DBT code, implement testing frameworks, and establish monitoring to ensure high data quality and pipeline reliability Use Datadog and other tools to monitor pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system uptime and performance Use SQL and Python to model, analyze, and interpret data - translating trends into actionable insights for stakeholders Gather requirements, identify new data sources, and contribute to data architecture decisions, while maintaining strong documentation and testing Drive data governance, security, and compliance initiatives, including privacy policies, risk management, and Information Security assessments Oversee third-party lifecycle management (vendors, contracts, compliance, security) ensuring alignment with Amex requirements and risk mitigation Partner with Compliance and Privacy teams to manage regulatory and contractual obligations and safeguard sensitive data Collaborate cross-functionally to identify, prioritize, and deliver strategic, product-aligned data initiatives Write LookML and enable scalable self-service analytics, empowering stakeholders to make data-informed decisions Develop and support training programs to enhance self-service data capabilities across the organization Be an integral part of a growing team developing innovative data solutions for Global Dining and its clients Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 4+ years in a cloud database administrator role or a related role such as an analytics engineer, data engineer, data analyst, data scientist, data architect. Experience in a high growth company preferred. Master’s Degree or PhD is a plus. Extensive experience with the modern data stack, both developing and ops/admin, particularly with Looker, Snowflake, Fivetran, and DBT Extensive experience in data modeling, ELT development, and data warehousing. Extensive experience with software development practices; version control, code review, CI/CD Strong problem-solving skills, with a resourceful and creative approach to tackling challenges Proficient writing code in Python and SQL Comfortable operating at the intersection of data and product - translating product needs into scalable data solutions and influencing roadmap decisions Experience implementing and operating data governance frameworks, with a strong focus on process, quality, and performance Deep understanding of privacy, risk, compliance and regulatory concerns and the ability to articulate the impact to partners and stakeholders Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders Passionate about fostering a data-driven culture and driving impact through data Experience in the restaurant and food tech industry highly preferred
