Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing accurate and compliant payroll operations, managing payroll-related regulatory requirements, and maintaining strong internal controls over the payroll function. This role has one direct report responsible for day-to-day payroll processing and works closely with Human Resources on employee data, benefits, and compensation matters.

The Opportunity:
Review and approve payroll runs
processed by the payroll team, including off-cycle payments, bonuses, commissions, and payroll corrections.
Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for UKG Ready Payroll
, overseeing system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Oversee multi-state payroll compliance
, including payroll tax withholding, registrations, reporting, and adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
Own year-end payroll processes
, including W-2s, W-2 corrections, 1099s, payroll tax filings, and support for payroll-related audits.
Design and maintain payroll internal controls
, including approval workflows, segregation of duties, payroll reconciliations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Manage and develop payroll operations
, including supervising the payroll processor, partnering with HR on employee lifecycle transactions, and ensuring accurate payroll and benefits processing.
What you bring:
5-7 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll and compliance
Prior experience managing or leading payroll staff strongly preferred
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred
Experience with payroll and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paylocity)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
