DeVoe & Company is seeking a Managing Director, Consulting & Investment Banking
to join our team. This is a remote position, and while a San Francisco Bay Area or West Coast location is preferred, the right candidate can be located anywhere in the U.S.

Our team is composed of highly experienced industry professionals with backgrounds in investment banking and strategy consulting, many of whom are former CEOs / Presidents / COOs of large RIAs.
Position Summary
As a Managing Director at DeVoe & Company, you will lead client engagements primarily focused on business consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and valuations. Although some MD’s are naturally suited to one or more categories, most of the team work in all three areas. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of the RIA industry and business model and investment banking or strategic consulting experience. Areas of focus may include:
M&A Consulting / Investment Banking: Help clients assess and execute sale, merger and acquisition strategies. Common areas of focus include:
- Sell-side / helping sellers find the optimal buyer and craft the optimal transaction
- Buy-side / helping buyers source and / or acquire RIAs
- Merger support / act as a third-party expert to help merger candidates assess the potential fit and craft the optimal transaction
Business Consulting: Help clients solve key business challenges. The company has tools, frameworks and processes to ensure our consultants deliver the highest quality solutions. Common areas of focus include:
- Strategic decision-making and business planning
- HR / performance reviews / incentive compensation plans / career pathing
- Succession planning / new partner addition /
- Equity migration / cap table engineering / affordability analysis
- Growth strategies
Valuations: Value large, medium and small RIAs, using a 30,000 cell discounted cash flow model and other valuation techniques.
- Methodically leverage a proven model and process to help determine the value of an RIA and usually help them understand how they can improve their firm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Representing DeVoe & Company as a seasoned expert
- Leading projects from planning to delivery
- Employing rigorous analytics and structured thinking to deliver clients the highest quality experience in the industry
- Developing and maintaining strong and effective client relationships that typically span multiple engagements
- Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis in creating client solutions
- Conducting complex modeling, including valuations and discounted cash flows
- Developing highly effective client presentations using the Minto Pyramid Principle
- Conducting outreach campaigns to targeted prospects
- Collaborating with team-mates; training and mentoring other DeVoe personnel
Additional potential duties:
- Sourcing new clients; prospecting
- Presenting on behalf of the company at events or on webinars
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. and ideally an MBA from leading program
- 10+ years of relevant experience with a top management consulting firm, investment banking firm or highly relevant RIA industry role
- Proven ability to create client solutions and recommendations rooted in quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Structured, analytical mindset with a passion for creating compelling stories out of data
- Exceptional communication skills including the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively -- both verbally and in writing
- Great attention to detail as well as ability to “see the big picture”

- Strong ethics and values, and authentic respect for people at all levels of organizations
- Demonstrated track record of high performance and achieving excellence in previous roles.
- Direct experience working at a private equity firm or private equity-backed firm is a plus
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement and delivering outstanding results.
- High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and other technology tools, including AI-assisted research and productivity tools
Compensation: Base salary: $150,000 - $200,000 plus uncapped incentive compensation tied to individual and company results. Target total annual earnings: $200,000- $1MM Final compensation will depend on factors such as qualifications, relevant experience, and other business factors, consistent with applicable law.
