We have a fantastic opportunity for a strategic, results-driven Managing Director to join our Patient Care divisional leadership team covering the South East. This role will be remote with expectation of travel to sites in your region 3-4 days per week including at present Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex. Reporting to the Divisional Managing Director you will be responsible for the P&L and operational execution of £60m ACV, c800 employees, 12 operational sites and ultimately delivering success in our four flagship, long-term NHS contracts. Role Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership to a workforce of over 800 colleagues, fostering a high-performance culture that drives employee engagement & retention. Build, lead and develop a high-calibre leadership team that has clear accountability for operational delivery, financial outcomes and client satisfaction. Champion a robust governance framework across the region, embedding strong controls, compliance, risk management and decision-making processes that align with corporate strategy, regulatory requirements and EMED best practice. Work with the executive team to shape the long-term people strategy by identifying, developing and retaining future leaders, establishing succession plans and investing in leadership capability to support organisational growth and transformation. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring leaders are equipped to deliver strategic priorities while effectively managing organisational change. Working with functional teams and the executive team, champion innovation and digital transformation initiatives, leveraging technology, automation and data-driven decision making to improve operational performance and customer experience. Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, clinical, health and safety and contractual obligations, maintaining robust governance frameworks that protect patients, employees and the organisation. Lead the development of a proactive safety culture, driving the identification, reporting and resolution of risks, incidents and near misses to deliver continuous improvement. Drive financial discipline and accountability across the leadership team, embedding a culture where operational decisions are underpinned by commercial understanding and return on investment principles. Identify and deliver opportunities to enhance profitability through service optimisation, productivity improvements, cost transformation initiatives and effective contract management. Monitor and mitigate financial, contractual and operational risks that could impact business performance, reputation or shareholder value, implementing proactive intervention strategies where required. Do you have what it takes? Demonstrable and successful recent experience and achievement at board / sub-board level or equivalent in a similarly complex organisation. Proven experience of effective commercial, demand and capacity planning. Track record of leading successful change programmes, including service improvement, outcome improvement and cost efficiency. A record of successful workforce, financial and resource management, ensuring high performance and holding individuals to account. Demonstrable experience of using data to lead improvement Track record of building high performing, cohesive teams, and inspiring others to achieve excellence. Track record of identifying and delivering strategic value creation plans Previously leadership of complex, large scale, multi-site operations Resilient and determined to overcome challenges, recover from setbacks, and demonstrable persistence to deliver strategic objectives. Strategic thinker with highly developed influencing, persuasion and negotiation skills and using them to bring about change and develop services, standards, and systems. Resilient under pressure and calm in a crisis into outcomes. A high standard of IT literacy, comfortable with using MS Office applications and a range of IT systems. Financial awareness and business acumen. An understanding of budget control and financial considerations of services Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long term time frames and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly Passionate about high quality patient care and delivering outstanding outcomes. Desirable Skills Experience of working in complex organisations in both public and private sector. Proven credibility within the people logistics space. Healthcare experience. Outsourced provider experience. Private equity experience. Experience implementing complex operational IT systems. Understanding of how public / NHS commissioning works, the commissioning infrastructure and partner organisations.
