As we continue to bring exceptional books to readers around the world, we're seeking a Managing Editorial Assistant to join our Managing Editorial Team! The Managing Editorial Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the Managing Editorial team in guiding a wide range of illustrated books through the preproduction and eBook process. This includes updating our main database; coordinating with internal teams; copyediting, proofreading, and eBook QA; maintaining accurate metadata and documentation throughout the publishing workflow; and general administrative support. What you’d be doing: Support the senior members of the Managing Editorial department in working with the Editorial, Design, and Production departments to guide books through the preproduction process Use Title Management Module database to set up entries for individual titles, track book data (specifications, etc.) and schedules, and update information Oversee departmental invoicing process Create barcodes Work with the Vice President managing the metadata feed by sending updates and troubleshooting Apply for CIP data Copyedit and proofread books, jackets, and marketing materials QA ebook files Coordinate and track title schedules Assist with preparing books for reprints and paperback reissues, including updating files and specifications Track and manage book-related materials used for sales and marketing purposes Participate in seasonal catalog development and production meetings We’re looking for someone who has: Bachelor’s degree Excellent copyediting (on hard copy and electronically) and proofreading skills Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style Position requires accuracy, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and follow through consistently Must be highly organized, energetic, and able to juggle multiple priorities efficiently and calmly Must be able to manage time and meet deadlines Must be able to work collaboratively and diplomatically across departments Proficiency in MS Word and Excel Highly preferred candidates also have: Experience working on illustrated books Familiarity with electronic markup/Acrobat Pro This position is in New York, NY and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week. The base salary range for this position is ($40,000 - $45,000) per year. The final offer will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
