As the first U.S. publisher dedicated to art and illustrated books—and an industry leader in visual and narrative publishing—ABRAMS is seeking  a Managing Editorial Intern to join our Managing Editorial team as part of our Fall Internship Program commencing on September 15, 2026. Over the course of this immersive,  unpaid program (offered for academic credit only) , interns will gain meaningful insight into the world of book publishing while contributing to real projects that drive our business forward. You’ll learn alongside experienced professionals, develop practical skills in your area of interest, and participate in opportunities designed to broaden your understanding of the publishing industry. Our goal is to help prepare the next generation of publishing talent while fostering a passion for books, art, and culture. The Managing Editorial Intern will support the Managing Editorial teams across our adult, ComicArts , and children’s lists. Managing Editorial oversees the full lifecycle of book production—from copyediting through final files sent to the printer—making this an excellent opportunity to learn the complete book-making process and collaborate with a wide range of creative departments. ABRAMS publishes and distributes beautifully designed books of the highest production quality across multiple imprints, including Abrams; Abrams ComicArts ; Megascope ; Surely Books; Abrams Image; Abrams Press; The Overlook Press; Cernunnos; Cameron + Company; Abrams Books for Young Readers; Amulet Books; Abrams Appleseed; and Magic Cat. We also distribute titles for Booth-Clibborn Editions, Bungie, Alain Ducasse Édition, Éditions de La Martinière , Editions BPI, Global Golf Group, Lucky Spool, Milky Way Picture Books, The Museum of Modern Art, SelfMadeHero , Tate Publishing, V&A Publishing, and The Vendome Press. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited academic institution. This internship is not open to recent graduates. What you’d be doing: Update title information in TMM (our database) Check corrections in book layouts Proofread book elements or marketing materials Code manuscripts for Design Request and review cover copy Create copyright pages Attend weekly department meetings Overall assistance to the department  Learning and networking with ABRAMS employees, publishing professionals, and fellow interns during this internship experience for academic credit Gaining hands-on exposure to the publishing industry, from concept to finished product Supporting research, project work, and day-to-day tasks within your assigned department Contributing ideas and providing creative input on department projects Collaborating with cross-functional teams and learning about various areas of the publishing business Participating in workshops and discussions designed to deepen your understanding of publishing trends and processes Receiving coaching, mentorship, and feedback from experienced ABRAMS professionals We’re looking for someone who: Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus/major in English, publishing, or another relevant subject Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word Proactive with strong communication and collaboration skills Motivated to learn, grow, research, solve problems, and work closely with the Managing Editorial staff Highly preferred candidates: Experience with copyediting and/or proofreading is not required Located in the New York City area and able to come into our office on a hybrid basis, especially when first training. Some remote work will also be acceptable.  Internship Details: Compensation:  For credit only; must be enrolled in a college program offering internship credit. Location:  New York, NY, and follows a hybrid schedule, working 25 - 35 hours per week.
