Role Description The Mandarin OPI/VRI Interpreter – Remote is a full-time role responsible for providing accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation services between Mandarin and English over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI). On a daily basis, the interpreter will facilitate real-time communication in settings such as customer support, business interactions, and other service environments, ensuring that messages are conveyed faithfully and clearly. The role includes listening carefully, interpreting spoken language without omissions or additions, and maintaining client confidentiality at all times. The interpreter will follow company protocols, manage call and session flow, use technology platforms effectively, and document sessions as required. This is a remote position, requiring a quiet, professional workspace and reliable internet connectivity to support consistent, high-quality interactions.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Mandarin and English language proficiency, including excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills.
• Candidates should possess skills in consecutive interpretation, real-time communication, and accurate, neutral message delivery.
• Candidates should possess familiarity with remote interpreting tools, video conferencing platforms, and basic computer literacy.
• Candidates should possess customer service and interpersonal skills that support empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
• Candidates should possess the ability to maintain confidentiality, follow protocols, and manage time and call volume effectively.
• Prior experience in OPI/VRI interpreting or community/business interpreting is highly beneficial.
• Formal training or certification in interpretation or translation is an advantage.
• A stable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, distraction-free remote work environment are required.
