Swiss Lloyd is an independent notified body headquartered in Liechtenstein, specialising in CE certification of recreational craft, personal watercraft, components, and floating structures under the EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD). Our team operates fully remotely across Europe, collaborating with shipyards, manufacturers, designers, and boat owners to bring vessels to market safely and compliantly.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, independent Marine Surveyor to join our certification workflow on a freelance/project basis. You will be a key link in our certification process — receiving technical documentation and preliminary assessments from our internal technical team and preparing structured, thorough survey findings for submission to our certifier.

This is a fully remote-first engagement, with travel to boatyards and manufacturer premises as required by individual projects.

What You'll Do

• Review technical documentation prepared by our internal team (drawings, calculations, stability data, construction files)
• Conduct physical inspections of recreational craft at shipyards or builder premises across Europe
• Assess compliance with applicable RCD conformity assessment modules (Module A1, Module B, etc.) and relevant harmonised standards
• Prepare clear, professional survey reports in a timely and structured manner
• Liaise efficiently with both the internal technical team and the certifier
• Identify non-conformities and provide actionable guidance on corrective measures

What We're Looking For

• Proven background as a marine surveyor, naval architect, or maritime engineer
• Solid knowledge of the EU Recreational Craft Directive (2013/53/EU) and its conformity assessment modules
• Familiarity in understanding and reading harmonised standards (EN ISO 122215, EN ISO 12217, EN ISO 11592, etc.)
• Experience working within notified body or structured certification workflows
• Highly reliable, deadline-conscious, and professional in all communications — this is essential
• Self-organised and comfortable working independently in a remote setup
• Willingness to travel to boatyards and manufacturers across Europe as projects require
• Fluent in English; German or another European language is a strong advantage
