Job Description - Marketing and Communications Coordinator (55700) Job Description Marketing and Communications Coordinator Job Number : 55700 The City of Edmonton is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our vibrant Community Services Communications and Engagement team. In this role, you will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams and department program areas to deliver integrated marketing and communications services that support vital municipal projects and initiatives. You will bring ideas to life by coordinating campaign activities, crafting engaging content across digital platforms, and supporting a diverse array of events. Your ability to juggle competing priorities and build strong relationships will directly impact how our stories are shared. Support the development and implementation of marketing and communication plans, including research, collateral or campaign materials, advertising and promotional campaigns, social media posts, videos, production requests, special events, media, publications, and educational material. Draft and develop copy for news releases, public service announcements, backgrounder documents, collateral materials, newsletters, advertising copy, web and digital content, key messages, speaking notes, and other general writing assignments. Develop and create social media content, execute social media activities Coordinate timely and accurate responses to media inquiries and provide media relations support Collaborate daily with internal teams, external creative suppliers, graphic designers, printers, and partner groups to deliver products on time and within budget. Gather complex or technical information from internal program areas and translate it into clear, accessible content for target audiences. Coordinate revisions and approvals for materials Assist with data collection and evaluation to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and events Provide event support, including develop and implement event plans, coordinate event logistics . Qualifications : Completion of a recognized 2-year college diploma or post-secondary program in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a public relations, communications, or public affairs role Assets: Experience shooting video and utilizing video editing software Background working within a large, public sector, or complex unionized environment Skills required for success: Working knowledge of marketing, advertising, social media strategy, design processes, event planning, and print production processes Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to adapt writing styles for diverse audiences Strong project management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaborative working relationships across all levels of an organization and with external partners Sound judgment and problem-solving skills when synthesizing technical information into easy-to-understand messages Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies: ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Conditions of Employment: Applicants may be tested Work Environment: Note : This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52 The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.
